UA vs UA Babylon vs Sweden
Sorry if this have been done before and sorry for bad spelling.
I find that Babylon's and Sweden's UA is similar because both helps in generating great persons. So I ask you who's you find most usefull and why. The other things unique aboth the civs are of no importence in this disscusion, just the UA's. Babylon: One free great scientist (doese not increase great person point cost for next great person) then you get the tech writing and 50% to great scientist growth rate. Sweden: 10% to great person growth rate for each dof (the civs you dof with gain a 10% great person growth rate bonus each) and you can gift every type of great person to city-states for 90 influence. I chose it depends because you have to do more work with your diplomacy to make the Swedish UA strong which can limit you however Swedens bonus helps generating all the great person you get from specialist. Babylons only help with getting great scientist but you always have it. Last edited by Denkt; Jul 05, 2012 at 07:29 AM. |

It absolutely depends on the situation. Science victory will likely be Babylon unless Sweden can keep up +50% modifier or better the whole game. But any other victory type would favor Sweden since Babylon's only applies to GS's.

You can apparently not gift great prophets to CS, is what i have learned from playing the swedes quite a bit by now. Any other GP will do.

Good to know. I was planning to gift a Great Prophet to the next CS in my current game (since I am already allied with the ones I have met). Now I will build a tile improvement rather than saving him for the UA influence.

I didn't know that because I haven't tried, only read about others who have said you can gift great prophet's to city-states as Sweden.

It depends on who the other civs are, what map type and how large the map is. If you're playing on a huge map and are able to DoF with 10 or more of the civs, you can crank out a lot of GS's much earlier than Babylon.

I completely disagree with that the only situation where Sweden would be is diplomatic. You need a every bit of science possible for culture victories to get get key wonders and lets face it domination makes the ability quite useless.

Great Scientists are the best great people (especially in the early game) regardless of victory condition. Artists/Engineers only begin to surpass them in the mid-to-late game if you're going culture.

So I'm going to have to disagree completely with you. Babylon is not better for a cultural victory. Quote:
And similarly you're making an argument that a GE for an instant Hubble/Oxford/Porcelain Tower is worse than a single GS in every situation except mid-late game cultural victories? Rofl, everything is situational guys, but not that situational. |

Strange . I've played a game where I skipped founding religion,by giving all the Great prophets I've got to city-states .

He may have tried to gift them after using them to spread religion. Since there are other similar restrictions on Prophets, there could be one on gifting as well.
