Manifest Destiny - Just seems really weak to me. I rarely purchase tiles and they're not too expensive to begin with. The sight can maybe help early game with scouting and maybe help with siege units but really I hardly ever have problems with fog of war. Maybe if it was +2 sight it would be different but +1 is just kinda meh.

Bushido - I don't know if you can even ask for a better ability for warmongers. Useful all game long from early game to deal with barbarians (you have to do this no matter what style you play) up until you grab that last capital. Even if you're not playing aggressive it's still very useful on the defense.

Ingenuity is still underrated. One of the best UA. Bushido is even more useless now. Ranged units rock and we have more ways to survive attacks.

+1 - Ingenuity. I think this is one of the better science focused UA's, and deserves to stick around more so than a lot more of these.
-2 PoC - I have played way to many immortal games with the Byz in which I am not lucky enough to hit any faith ruins, those religious benefit mountains, or religious city states. Watching religions get swallowed up and my UA be completely useless is not fun.

Viking Fury gets hit today. If the AI were to get better at naval battles, it might be better, but as it stands, it's just too easy to dominate an area and clear a beachhead. I'ev never had a situation when I said "if I had more movement on my embarked units and could attack after landing, I'd have won."

I'm going to throw my support today to Patriarchate of Constantinople. I don't get it. Furor Teutonicus seems to have been voted out due to the fact that it, alone is a bad UA, ignoring that with Germany it is absolutely amazing. Alone, in a vacuum, one extra belief upon founding a religion is massive. While the Byzantines don't get anything that work with it, it is maybe the best single UA ignoring all else.

Removing a CS from the game, in any game is not my kind of play style, as for the Inca, I enjoy many roads throughout my empire for fast military movement.

I'm not sure I understand what makes it amazing with Germany. I found it very lackluster. Are you referring to the -25% maintenance synergizing with cheap landsknechts?

I'm refering to the (marathon speed, may be different on others) 10 gold cost of upgrading an army of barbarian spearmen to an army of landsknechts.

It seems to me that was the purpose of the UA, and it goes pretty well with the barbarian setup, since they have brutes for a very short time, then keep spearmen spawning in their camps for nearly 2 eras.

It's much like the Long Count, a bad UA on it's own but for a civ that gets a big early game science boost and doesn't need archery to get "archers" it ends up pretty nice.

Without landsknechts, Germany's UA would be totally useless. With them, the UA might as well be puppet the two nearest enemy civs upon researching CS.

Yeah, ignoring the very important idea that it is difficult to actually get the religion on higher difficulties, the UA is helpful. If I could be guaranteed of finding a religion (besides playing emperor down) then I would probably wouldn't be down voting this UA.

Phoenician Heritage: Hooks up cities early, saves hammers, great synergy with Messenger of the Gods, etc. What I love about it is the historical flavour - settling far-flung coastal colonies really makes you feel like you're playing Carthage.

Seven Cities of Gold: Not fun if it doesn't come into play, and it feels broken if you find El Dorado or the Great Barrier Reef early in the game.

The Byzantines have a very weak UA in context and very strong out of context. If the German UA is gone due to being weak out of context, then Patriarchate of Constantinople should be hailed for being strong under the same circumstances.

I can't speak for others, but I downvoted Furor Teutonicus because I found it very uninteresting, luck-based, and not very fun to play. A huge army isn't nearly as interesting to play with as a small, highly promoted one. The german UA just felt lacking when I played them. Sure, I conquered my neighbors with landsknetchs and comp bowmen, but with other civs I conquer my neighbors with pikemen and comp bowmen. Just felt *meh*.

Also, I know they were going for the whole Barbarous enemy of the Romans theme, but for a country that is barely 100 years old, and changed the world forever with its expansion in the 20th century, you'd think they'd get a modern bonus, probably something manufacturing-related... but I digress...
 
Roof - to make Furor Teutonicus even somewhat decent you need to be playing on very restrictive biased settings. (Marathon - lower terrain - Raging Barbs).

Not everyone plays Marathon - which basically makes the game 2 levels easier than whatever level you are playing at anyways. And once again Multiplayer is the ultimate test of a civ. Any competent player can deal with a "landsknecht army" without an issue. You need ranged units to get anywhere with combat - and to do so you aren't getting much of anything out of Landsknechts then if they clog the way. Meaning you shave some hammers but get nothing significant in the field of battle. If AI were more competent/or if you were playing on a quicker speed - Landsknechts just don't do as much of a job. Germany is one of the worst civ's all around IMHO.

You need a religion to use it - on higher singleplayer levels with AI bonuses it becomes wothless unless you are lucky to find a natural wonder/space to spam cities. In multiplayer you can get stonehenge yes and go religious but you oftentimes have to then forego the UUs. The fact its so risky, luck based, and doesn't combine well at all (the civ in general doesn't) gets my downvote
