Venice - Serenissima - 15(Correcting AggressiveWimp's vote he only subtracted one and adding my own neg 3) This UA can be really amazing in the late game but one or two early, strong, aggressive neighbors can literally take the wind out of your sails. If you see Venice in your game it's easy take them out when they're weak, trying to build umpteen trade routes and protect them all. Their inability to found cities makes it very easy to plop one of your own right next to their capital and launch an invasion from there. Venice has to be allowed to reach their strong point. I think it's funny when people say India's UA is the only one with a direct negative when Venice has a pretty big one.

Well, we've got a Unique Unit Elimination Thread, a Unique Building Elimination Thread, and a Unique Improvement Elimination Thread - guess we just need a Unique Ability Elimination Thread now! As in the other threads, voting goes +1, -3, and please explain why you're voting the way you are.
So, without further ado, here's the Giant List O' UAs (as of BNW, of course)!

America - Manifest Destiny - All land military units have +1 sight. 50% discount when purchasing tiles.

Spain - Seven Cities of Gold - Gold bonus for discovering a Natural Wonder (bonus enhanced if first to discover it). Culture, Happiness, and tile yields from Natural Wonders doubled.
Sweden - Nobel Prize - Gain 90 Influence with a Great Person gift to a City-State. When declaring friendship, Sweden and their friend gain a +10% boost to Great Person generation.

The Maya - The Long Count - After researching Theology, receive a bonus Great Person at the end of every Maya Long Count calendar cycle (every 394 years). Each bonus person can only be chosen once.
The Netherlands - Dutch East India Company - Retains 50% of the Happiness benefits from a Luxury Resource if your last copy of it is traded away.
The Ottomans - Barbary Corsairs - All melee naval units have the Prize Ships promotion, allowing them to capture defeated ships. Pay only one-third the usual cost for naval unit maintenance.
The Shoshone - Great Expanse - Founded cities start with additional territory. Units receive a combat bonus when fighting within their own territory.
The Zulus - Iklwa - Melee units cost 50% less maintenance. All units require 25% less experience to earn their next promotion.
Venice - Serenissima - Cannot gain settlers nor annex cities. Double the normal number of trade routes available. A Merchant of Venice appears after researching Optics. May purchase in puppeted cities.

I think it's funny when people say India's UA is the only one with a direct negative when Venice has a pretty big one.

AgressiveWimp actually split his -3 across multiple UAs, and so Venice's "score" is currently at 16.

Germany - Furor Teutonicus - Upon defeating a Barbarian unit inside an encampment, there is a 50% chance you earn 25 gold Gold and they join your side. Pay 25% less for land unit maintenance. (Fall Patch changes it from 50% to 67%.)
Japan - Bushido - Units fight as though they were at full strength even when damaged. (Fall Patch Updates) +1 Culture for Fish Boats and +2 Culture for Atolls.

Thanks, updating OP.

What are the rules on voting in these? Can you vote every 24 hours, or only once, ect?

As I said in a previous post, you can vote once every 24 hours.
Well then, I guess I'll vote again.

America - Manifest Destiny - 13
Arabia - Ships of the Desert - 21
Assyria - Treasures of Nineveh - 21

England - Sun Never Sets - 20
Ethiopia - Spirit of Adwa - 16 (-1) My reasoning is if a civ is bigger than me, I'm just overall not going to be attacking them. Of course, this also helps with defense, if I remember right... Ethiopia overall is a pretty good civ I think, though
France - City of Light - 17
Germany - Furor Teutonicus - 20
Greece - Hellenic League - 20
India - Population Growth - 10 (-1) It still sucks for the same reason as my last post. It is definitely one of the most potentially harmful UAs in the game, along with venice.

The Huns - Scourge of God - 10 (-1) The whole thing about borrowing city names irritates me. It strikes me as uncreative, like maybe the developers didn't bother trying to find good hunnic city names.
The Inca - Great Andean Road - 21
The Iroquois - The Great Warpath - 21
The Maya - The Long Count - 21 (+1) Free Great people? Perfect when I need to build a wonder with no GE to be spawned in time. Usually as the Maya I get to choose a great person at such a convenient time as this.
The Netherlands - Dutch East India Company - 20
The Ottomans - Barbary Corsairs - 20
The Shoshone - Great Expanse - 21
The Zulus - Iklwa - 21
Venice - Serenissima - 16 (Which is apparently what venice's correct score is)

AgressiveWimp actually split his -3 across multiple UAs, and so Venice's "score" is currently at 16.

Oops missed that, good catch. Didn't realize it could be split so I wasn't looking for it.

Morocco - Gateway to Africa - 14
Persia - Achaemenid Legacy - 20
Poland - Solidarity - 23 One of the most powerful, versatile and reliable UAs in the game. It will always benefit you regardless of map conditions or chosen VC.

Denmark is a rather bad civ with totally unremarkable bonuses. The best thing you get out of this is the nice extra embarkation, but that's still situational and bland.

The ability to move super fast through any hilled terrain provides the Inca with a distinctive military advantage, as well as a great exploration one. This saves on early worker turns and allows players to pay for their roads for almost nothing.
The Iroquois - The Great Warpath - 21
The Maya - The Long Count - 21
The Netherlands - Dutch East India Company - 20

Sweden - Nobel Prize - 18 A bonus that gives a bonus to your opponent? No thanks. The GP gifting seems gimmicky, as well.
The Aztecs - Sacrificial Captives - 21
The Celts - Druidic Lore - 20
The Huns - Scourge of God - 10
The Inca - Great Andean Road - 23 Faster movement on hills is nothing to sulk at, and stacking this with the Mt. Kilimanjaro bonus can make moving on hills the equivalent of moving on roads. Speaking of roads, the reduced maintenance costs is nice, too.
The Iroquois - The Great Warpath - 21
The Maya - The Long Count - 21
The Netherlands - Dutch East India Company - 20
The Ottomans - Barbary Corsairs - 20
The Shoshone - Great Expanse - 21

It's only 10% for opponents whilst Sweden's GP bonus stacks as high as the number of civs. Although divisions are inevitable anyway. Main nerf to Sweden's friendship bonus would be ideologies so it encourages Sweden to get good tourism and early ideology ASAP.

America - Manifest Destiny - 11 (-2) - outclassed by Shoshone. I am surprised that the fall patch beta paid no attention to America's need for a UA buff.

Japan - Bushido - 16 (-1) Although the small buff to Japan UA seems nice, I think culture from fishing boats should be scaled up over time. Something like +6 culture per fishing boat in information era or something. And maybe double culture from whale resources. ;)

Mongolia - Mongol Terror - 11
Morocco - Gateway to Africa - 14

-3 votes go to one civ only not spread across the board! FYI if you are wondering why some people are doing this one person made a mistake and others followed.

That wasn't a mistake I made, I meant to do that. And how is that wrong? Where in the rules in the OP does it say "you cannot split your vote; all -3 votes must go to only one civ"?

If cpm4001 says we can't split votes, fair enough, because he started the thread. But he didn't, so why do you feel this isn't a correct way of voting?

Precedent mostly.

I suppose its not explicitly clear in the OP, but all of the other elimination threads over the years have been all or nothing.

From the OP :
As in the other threads, voting goes +1, -3, and please explain why you're voting the way you are.

So your options are +1 or -3, not +1, -1, -2, -3.

Germany - Furor Teutonicus - 17 - 3 This is the reason I don't play Germany. I know they are redoing it, but they are making it worse IMO. Each barb camp that this works on gives you less gold. If you get 10 of these you either have to try to zerg everyone or simply delete the units. You can't pay for maintenance on 10+ units that early in the game.

My apologies to all. I noticed that the elimination threads carry different rules and I briefly thought they were uniform. I won't make the same mistake again.

It happens, I've botched more of these votes than I have fingers :)

Uh, I honestly don't care...you can split your votes if you want, or not. Just be sure not to subtract more than 3 per day.
Sorry I didn't get back to you on this point earlier; I was too busy this afternoon/early evening to post here.
