I am on a bit of a quest to discover the most blatantly overpowered combination of game choices that a player could possibly get for any one thing. Things such as production bonuses or golden age time and everything else. I don't know of many but I could imagine a few as being particularly potent. Here are a few examples that I could think of:

Great Person Point Generation via Austria:
Coffeehouse unique building + Garden building + Leaning Tower of Pisa wonder + Declaration of Friendship with Sweden + Avant Garde Freedom tenet

Total: 110% GPP generation in this city, provided there are specialists.

Natural Wonder Tile Yield via Spain:
Spain's UA + One with Nature pantheon + Natural Heritage Sites resolution + Golden Age period

Total: Depends on the natural wonder being worked. I'm not sure if the pantheon and resolution stacks with the UA on golden ages however. GBR will probably be the most powerful, especially since they tend to appear together as two tiles.

Ancient/Classical Wonder Production via Egypt:
Egypt UA + Improved marble resource near city + Monument to the Gods pantheon + Aristocracy social policy

Total: Up to 75% production towards wonders in the ancient/classical era.

Are you considering Map types? Venice wins on Archipelago, Polynesia wins on Terra. . .

Have you tried the Polynesia Terra map thing? It's actually harder than it seems. I tried it once. Too much land, too many barbarians, and not enough happiness and commerce.

Heck, I play Polynesia(vanilla) on archipelago ALWAYS, I can't imagine not playing on that one.

Any civ + Commerce (the 25% reduced purchase cost policy) + Big Ben + Skyscrapers or Mobilization .
A total of 73% reduced purchase cost for units or buildings - and 40% for the other.
I guess go with a gold-focussed civ to use that better; also any gold wonder, Macchu Picchu or Neuschwanstein too.

And that's leaving out various social policies that give you a boost to certain Great People's production! In total, you're looking at 135% to Great Merchants and Scientists!

When considering Great Person production, you should also consider Babylon and Great Scientists. +50% off the bat, +25% from a Garden, +25% from the Leaning Tower of Pisa, + 10% from a friendship with Sweden, , +25% from the Rationalism tree, and +25% from the Liberty or Order tenant.

All of that gets you a grand total of +160% Great Scientist production!

And, of course, Sweden itself, which gets a 10% great person production boost for every Declaration of Friendship...

Greece in a map with CS... oh, wait!

I second that. I don't know about Emperor+, but on King, playing as Greece becomes too ridiculous to be enjoyable. You end up swimming in resources of all sorts, and in *total* control of the UN.

Keshiks + Khans.

Everything Arabia has.

Khans are overrated, I would take Chinese GGs over them any day. Keshiks want to be on the move all the time and never take damage anyway, what good is bonus healing? ;)

Greece in a map with CS... oh, wait!

Too right! Greece is in my current game, and as usual Alex is doing his thing...prat, I just lost 9 happiness from CS. I'm going to have to DOW him right now or he'll be too strong (he's just entered Industrial). I'm Liz by the way and my SOTL are close by.[pissed]

Zulus, Ikhanda, Armory, Alhambra, Military Academy, Brandenburg Gate, The second on the left in honour. Unless he's against AI, India, Manhattan Project, Uranium.

The only reason why the AI doesn't always totally dominate as Greece, is that it doesn't have much of an 'I'.

You forgot Persia UA+ Chichen Itza +Universal Suffrage = 150% longer Golden Age!continue it with great artists and u might be in golden age for 1/3 of the game!

You would think that this combo would be good, but playing Persia and having Chichen Itza in my games (only tried this once), Universal Suffrage added nothing to the length of the Golden Ages compared to what I had before adopting it.

Bug? or intentional?

And, of course, Sweden itself, which gets a 10% great person production boost for every Declaration of Friendship...

Yes, in theory, Sweden could get a +210% bonus to Great Person production from its UA alone, if you played with the max number of 22 civs, and Sweden managed to have DoF's with everyone. And that +210% is before all the Garden / National Epic / Aesthetics opener / Arts Funding modifiers.... :king:

Surprised Venice+Mercantilism+Mobilization+Total War+Big Ben hasn't been mentioned. With the additional gold Venice gets you can pretty easily get to the point of buying an Air Repair Bomber every turn.
