I am pretty much a noob for Civ 5 and have never bothered standard deity before BNW,but ever since this new DLC things go way much easier than before imo, plus more fun!So far I have succeeded twice on deity as Poland and Spain(u are almost guaranteed to discover a natural wonder nearby which equals an early settler!:D)Anyway the only reason I could survive is that my neighbours are peaceful guys(Catherine and Sweden),also buffered by city state allies,I never even bothered building an impressive army, never bothered any wars,so eventually 1 turn before diplomatic victory things are like(This IS on deity):

Yes!My impressive army is~~~one warrior and two archers, that's it!And yes,122 out of 214 of my income is generated from trade routes from AIs!All the dark magic I use is provoking wars,Babylon has been warmongering all along and close to me as well,so I really have to keep him busy,Theresa is the best target, they've been in war for almost the entire game!I provoked unbelievably 10 wars throughout the game!Good points are, once they are at war they won't bother bribing CS that much and I am allied with every single CS I met!Not to mention that there are almost zero competition in building late game wonders :p!here are some of my cheap deals:

Half of them chose autocracy but everyone's friendly with me except for Russia and Denmark:

For those of you who does't bother provoking wars, this might really shock you a bit !;)

Sometimes one AI consumes another in early game and gets OP. Then u wont want him to attack some1 else. Anyway AI trades war for 5 gpt only if he wants to attack. If he doesnt want war that much, prise will be much higher.

By the way, I didnt played With Spain in BNW, but in GNK I played smth like 10 games (till turn 50-60) trying to find wonder. And only in 2 I got it. So it is far not guaranted.

Hmm for me it's probably 3 out of 5 chance to discover a natural wonder in the first 20 turns, new problem is in BNW there is a really high chance that a CS is near it(2 or 3 tiles away),that's still Ok cuz CS expand their border fairly slow, all I care is the 500 gold

There was even once(only once) that I was spawned 4 or 5 tiles away from Mt. Kilimanjaro!(No kidding!),so 500 gold popped up right from the start! Again playing as Spain is completely luck based, but I enjoy that!

If there is indeed an OP AI,he would definitely want to war war war,so long as he doesn't annihilate another AI it's still fine,so I would pick a decent AI for him to have fun with:lol:

(PS: I just tried another game as Spain,in the very first 20 turns I found THREE natural wonders!(Sri Pada,Lake Victoria &Uluru),and all discovered first!unbelievable luck!So overall 5 games as Spain after BNW,I ALWAYS find at least 1 natural wonder first!(in the first 20 turns)Here is the list:
1)Lake Victoria(near CS 2 tiles);2)Mt.Kilimanjaro& Mt. Kailash; 3)Mt. Kilimanjaro(near CS 3 tiles); 4)King Solomon's Mine(near CS 2 tiles);5)Sri Pada(near CS 2 tiles),Lake Victoria &Uluru
Wonders never encounterred: Cerro de Potosi,El Dorado & Fountain of Youth(cuz these are too good)
So it's not as simple as pure luck,Spain DOES spawn near a natural wonder, and they are decent ones!

Catherine? Peaceful?

Playing with AI not even programmed to notice that we have nor army... indeed awesome.

not really in this playthrough but generally she's still peaceful at first(then she will backstab you?)

What happens to me. And then, if she can't conquer you, she'll try to be friends again and bide her time.

Yeah, my experience with Cathy is that she prioritizes expansion, and so she won't backstab you until she's out of room. (At which point she will almost inevitably backstab you unless she's got a better target.)

And how are you provoking wars then ? I was expecting to read a bit about that, but you didn't mention it :)
