2 - Can we manipulate which KFM file is associated to a specific unit in the dll?
I could standardize unit model armatures so more animation sets would be compatible with each unit models.

I dont think its possible because animations KFM files are linked (somehow) with NIF files.
 
I'll have to research the code at some point here to see how it all comes together there. I can only imagine how much data it would take to have lots of differing arts. My initial consideration was to make the combat class controlling base weapon type access be based on the unit art and since that varies by culture, perhaps I can make it possible to define that combat class on the cultural unit art setting. Then perhaps specific weapons can vary but within a thin enough scope that differing animations would be unnecessary.
