Heroes

I usually have had about 20 or more hero units by the Renaissance.

You know what, i bet it depends then on how or i mean what speed you play at, I currently play at Epic, i bet you play on Snail. Then in my Marathon games i can get maybe 4-6 at Industrial Era. This is on a Huge mapscript

I think the gladiator units that Sparticus generates may be a bit over powered since they are almost as good as a Great General. I suggest the following

1) they should be able to build the Gladiator School and the Fencing School or whatever they are called.

2) settle in the city as a new Settled Specialist, lets call him a "lesser military instructor" or perhaps "Drill Sargent" which only gives one or two exp to new (melee?) units and no gold. Calling him a Drill Sargent lets us then add in training missions on all military units if you have the Military Academy in the city when we get such programed. It could be done with missions but would tedious to program that way. Although the Drill Sargent in other mods only allow units to end up at level 1 or two and our system most units start out much higher levels.

Here is the Heroes thread i started ALONG time ago, alot of ideas here, i just did NOT know how to implement them, but i was just looking also, and here is a concept of "DyingHeroes" (its OLD) they last only a few short time periods, dont know if any good or not since i dont know python??

I really dislike dying heroes because it dictates when you will go to war and I have never managed to get one to the front lines before it died of old age.

thats because it was set to only 5 turns, you can set it for as long as you want . . .

Even at twenty turns I was not able to get them to the front lines:(

It would be better if it was a number of battles rather than a number of turns.
