Japan - I never played as Japan and never bothered listening past the somewhat boring start, but once I did my mind was blown. Amazing theme.

France - I just can't stand anything France-related in this game, this theme included. Go away Napoleon and take your silly theme with you!

Ohhhh, how much I want to make this a tie between Ethiopia, Sweden, and Portugal. >_<

SWEDEN
I often purposefully put Sweden in my games just so I can listen to this theme. Listening to it, I feel as if I'm flying through the Swedish countryside, and cities. It is an uplifting theme of triumph and glory, and it always puts a smile on my face.

DENMARK
Meh, not much to say, really... It's just pretty bland.

I'm not too fond of Songhai's theme. At first I thought it starts out good, but then the main melody repeats itself too much that I get sick of it. It does get a change of pace later, but still doesn't do it for me.

In contrast, Assyria starts out really subdued and mysterious at first but gradually evolves into quite a grand theme, and that befitting a king. My only gripe is that it could have been a bit longer. :lol:

That's because the source melody Michael Curran (the composer) based the Songhai theme on was repetitive:D, it was a Gambian man playing a simple repeating melody on a guitar like instrument on youtube.

Doing a vote earlier than usual today since I need to sleep early.

Ran out of selections to vote down since many of them are good, or at least better than what I'm voting down for. So once again, Germany takes another downvote from me due to an uninspiring Ode to Joy.

Phos Hilaron is one of, if not the oldest Medieval Christian music in the world and is one of the most celebrated music of all time. That said, this rendition of the Byzantium theme did not disappoint, and is even given a bit of extra lyrics at the end (Ave Maria), which is also the climax of the theme. It befits a religious-centric civilization quite well.

GREECE - you hear the theme and it is as though Alexander is saying to you: "oh hello friend, I am Alexander...you interrupted me on my present quest....but never mind, come....let us engage in eloquent diplomacy....or diplomatic eloquence....whichever you prefer".

AUSTRIA - you hear this theme and it is as though Maria is saying "fafafaaafafaaaaa laaa dee daaa fa fa faaa, look at me, la la la". And then you just want to push her out of that window she is prancing towards.
