Bonjour,

I've been playing a few games of AoD2 with faireweather random maps, and it's working well. Land costs are high, tools and guns are sky-high. This is all for the best, and makes me really work for my survival. It forces me to get tool production and gun production going ASAP, instead of just relaxing and buying what I need from Europe.

The pirates are still there, but seem less dangerous than in earlier versions. I can't wait to see what new pirate stuff you have waiting for us.

Nice to see a whole new forum for this mod. Oh, and Joyeux Noël!

Cheers, --- Wheldrake

Cheers mate, glad to see you around. The next version will have big things for the Pirates, including their own "Europe" screen (Tortuga) and their own victory condition. :D

Oconosta is a real b1tch! I'm playing the French, haven't stolen a single bit of land, and he still declares war before I've even got one sawmill built!

Perhaps he got angry when I trashed the Spaniard's cities, and when I captured a portuguese city. Seems like I read somewhere on these forums that when you capture an enemy city, it treats the territory as if it were stolen from the natives. Is there some way to see *why* he suddenly got mad? From killing other Europeans who would have trashed his villages long before I would've?

I haven't ever seen the natives *this* restless before. I wonder if it's linked to the map, the scenario, or just a wierd twist of fate.

Cheers, --- Wheldrake

See the thing is you take the city, and then your borders expand soon, and when they do the land taken is like counted as stolen land unless you already had cultural influence there i think.

the land ownership does seem a bit wacky. when making landfall, i usually check the land ownership, mostly to see if aztecs/incas are nearby for extra loot. i often see silly combinations with five tribes having a stake in the land and some of them without a settlement anywhere in sight.

my last game i stole land from arawaks and the aztecs promptly declared war on me, even if they had no stake in the land i just hijacked, were not anywhere near me (like 20 squares away) and i hadnt even made contact with them yet.

Is there any reason why all of the Indian tribes on the plains seem to specialise in tobacco growing ? This is a bit contrary in areas where mainly cotton grows.

btw I really like the faireweather map generator !
