units are generated when you start the custom scenario if you delete everything you have in the WB save according to TMIT's creation guide.

So you only need to care about techs for AI's and that means you can use noble save as prince save since there is no tech difference.
 
Hmm, I don't recall any NC games on Lakes maps. Probably need to add extra AIs since I'm guessing there would be more land, but otherwise that could be interesting.
 
Even with high sea levels, there is a lot of land on a Lakes map. You'd want at least 2 extra AIs, maybe more.

You'd probably also want to avoid any civs with naval UUs, since they're not going to see much use - Carracks or East Indiamen aren't much use on this map :).

Naval UBs, depending on their benefits, might be OK (the Trading Post's free navigation is useless, while the Cothon's +1 trade route works just fine).

Do you have any coastal city sites to build Cothons or Harbors in, on a Lakes map? I've never played on that script.
 
I have a vague memory of TMIT doing a Lakes map, but nobody should trust my memory. At some point I should go back over all the threads and record what map types were used. Also, with regard to how many AIs: I have a script that can tell me how much land per civ there is, which helps me figure out how many AIs to add. Forgot to use it for Zara, though, but I think the AI/land ratio seems to have turned out OK on that one.
I thought that contradicted with your "That might put a watery map too soon after Darius".
If this was in the context of my suggesting Continents, that wouldn't normally be considered a "watery map". Those are things like archipelago or islands or the recent Darius maze or perhaps "snaky continents". Basically, things with a higher ratio of seacoast to land and thus few "middle of the continent" cities.

well exactly, since you can easily tell it ingame, you should as well just say the size...... well its a minor rant..... i would probably restart the game on epic....
i dont like plaing huge maps on standaart speed, its too rushed and +2 diff...... since you have to deal with many runaway civs, that can be quite far
 
I think map size only needs to be mentioned if not normal, and should not be in a spoiler. Had I known this detail before I started play, I'd have picked epic, not normal.
 
It's pretty standard to provide the basic map info like size and type for any game either by listing it or showing us the settings screen. Problem with loading WB files is you don't see this info. Not sure why anyone would want to be surprised by this info. I would certainly want to know the map size since if it is larger than standard then I won't play it. And map type can effect your strategy from the start.

The issue I have with the map info you put in spoilers is that it is just that - spoilery. I don't think that is necessary, but do as you will...it's your series.
