Things I learned about the science of warfare through Civilization IV

82)Everything is made of wood, from the lowliest worker to the most complex aircraft and you can cut down trees to build them faster

83)Early workers are inefficient tree cutters, much of the tree goes to waste, they only use the branches, later advances lead to ingenius uses of the whole tree!

84) Engineering not only gives you the ability to make pikes, it also gives you Nike, allowing your subjects to move one and a half times faster.

85) Learning to be a Liberalist is so powerful that you can instantly learn something that would have taken 30+ years to learn in only 4. However all later techs will still take 30+ years to learn.

86) All Native American Tribes can be easily grouped into one civilization under a single leader named "Sitting Bull"

87) Being Aggresive and Protective is not redundent as proved by the Great Tokugawa.

In conjunction with that...

88) In contrast, creating about a body of techniques for investigating phenomena and acquiring new knowledge in fact slows down technological advancement, as the monks go on strike!

89) You can only sail galleys and triremes within a viewing distance of books written in your own language or the hearing distance of songs being sang in it. Which is consistent throughout the game, since you can only sail away from your shores after discovery of optics, which aids you in seeing the said books from farther away...obviously.

90) Having freshly preserved food on your ships, makes you sail faster.

91) People can actually survive nukes
92) Tanks take less damage in bomb shelters and bunkers when bombed or nuked.

93) Even the earliest Caravel could spend tens of years out at open sea without pulling into shore.

94) Tanks trained in using special designed enemy roads can outrun helicopters.

95. The leaders of civilizations do not even consider retiring, until they are at least 6050 years old.

96. A military unit that was born in say, 4000, if never dies in combat, will never, ever die of old age. Even 6000 years later, that same warrior will still be there, good as new. Military units never age!

97. In the modern day and age, when a city is razed, its citizens run to the nearest Mech Infantry.

98) Montezuma if you should meet him must fight someone every hundred years or die of boredom.

99) For about 500 pieces of gold you can teach a club wielding warrior how to use a rifle.

100) If you choose to teach a Melee Unit how to use a Rifle then that Rifle may know the art of attacking cities. However a Riflemen whos only ever used a rifle will not be able to know such tactics.

Woot 100!

--Troops trained under theocratic governments will be inherently tougher, even when fighting their co-religionists.

102. Plane shadows are painful, as evidenced by the fact that units get "hurt" even if a plane recons their tile.

103. The local ICBM complex can usually be located around the town square.
104. ICBMs are constructed by mithril granting them immunity to a direct nuclear explosion.
105. The trees in jungles are actually not trees. They are giant poison ivies that must be destroyed to protect peoples health.

106) Even in the Modern Era Generals fought alongside their army. Thanks to their experience in the field they are able to usually win.

107) Even though your people have decided to settle down as a civilization does not mean they have figured out how to hunt like the Hunters and Gatherers before them.

107) Even though your people have decided to settle down as a civilization does not mean they have figured out how to hunt like the Hunters and Gatherers before them.

THAT is the best so far!

108) By killing enough animals and people, you too, can learn to run faster in dense forest and jungle than you can on flat land.

109) The Quecha's Club is made of gold thus it reflects arrows

110) What really makes the United States Stands out is that their Marines heal their wounds while they walk. That is how D-Day was won!

110)The Roman's Praetorian was not an overpowered force during its historical use. This explains how Rome never controlled a really big empire.

Must think of more UU jokes...

111) Grenades do more damage to riflemen than to cavalry.

112) If you are facing an enemy superior in numbers, the best course of action is to sent one or two catapults/cannons to the front line to do a suicide mission - they'll blow up their cannons, taking a large portion of enemies with them in the process.

113) A civ's borders are clearly color coated

114) You can spend gold to turn a cavalry into a Gunship but in order to train a new gunship the people must make a universal vote on it.
