This is bad example. Epic speed and especially classical era start is nothing like standard setting. These two are incomparable. You skip the most difficult stage and cruise into Renaissance with huge advantage, since AI is too stupid to unlock Liberty tree right away and doesn't utilize its potential. On normal speed ancient start it has dozen of pikes while you still have one and a half archer. 'Castrating' pikes with bow and arrows isn't very effective. You must wait until you get quality units to attack with.
