Unit Art Thread

I just went through the 22 pages of unit downloads, amazingly little for our time period was too be found.

I really like your astute and akula Refar. Would you like to make any more Submarines or Naval Vessels? It would be great to have you onboard!

I knew that I was saying we would know more of what a 3-D model would look like for Art. They look SO cool.

@Sheep - You posted in the units request thread with the same thing I posted just before.
 
Ok, here is the checklist of units that we have art for. We need people to skin each of the ones that are listed as "need it".

If you know of any existing units that fit any of those listed as "need it", please let me know.

Artists, please pick any needed unit from the list to work on, and include your creation(s) in the World 2009 mod.

Thanks sheep21, I've updated the first post. I added the modern pirate boat as the Somali Pirates.
 
Also the Vanguard class SSBN is one of the few units that is already actually in our mod, it came with the nuke mod along with a bunch of fancy nukes. So there's one more ticked off our list.

Sheep21, I think we're in business. We can use most of the models you found and that we were discussing over yahoo. As you said, it is basically a matter of lowering textures and/or polygons, and then exporting them with the civ4 3dsmax plugin.

Bad news: we have to wait and see how good they will look. No one get your hopes up looking at the existing models. Plus it is going to take a lot of learning (unless new experienced artists join our team), and work to do this.

Good news: there appears to be no limit to the number of models out there for us to use and reskin.

Edit: ok crap, the ones on that site cost a lot of money. Well anyway, there are other sites that have free ones, as you found. We'll have to find as many good free ones as we can. For example on that site you sent me, I found a number of free Frigates. More free models here.
 
Everyone keep in mind, the priority is still finding as many existing Civ4 units we can.

After we finish doing that as best as we can, we should start looking for 3d models we can use to create new units. We can probably find a different model for every unit we have.
 
 
I was looking at your list of units & noticed that you need the Tu-22M. I know that can be found in Wolf's mod.
