I will continue to vote for the musketeer (if it's still alive tomorrow) and will vote aginst the ship of the line, megaboats are not that important to me

don't get why people vote for mohawk and jaguar ...
jaguar , jungle bonus is very very situational and the health through kills, there I would choose Janissaries
mohawk, wood/jungle bonus is situational.
But I would put them into the lower tier, even when having them upgraded later, it's not that superior imho....

Jaguar +2 Heal is VERY useful. And you will have this over the whole game, Sword, LS, Infantry, Mech Inf. Actually it is almost as useful as the Janicar as you will rarely need heal more than 2 after killing completly something. But even then it is usually good to attack, kill and not die from a counterattach from another unit.

Jungle strength is almost useless you are right about that but heal is made up for it.

I do not like mohawk either.

Should I have understood sooner that voting for the janissary would only provoke negative reactions from samurai lovers (as fairplay as they were), I would have gladly voted for the panzer; now I have to wait 6 hours until I can try to save the hoplite instead (sorry sipahis). Oh man...:sad:
I think it is a very good unit, that suffers only from arriving so late in the game, and being German, which is probably the worst civ right now. 5 moves, 60 strength, moves after attacking and cheaper than mech infantry? Sign me in!

Actually, I like the Panzers too. I have a theory...

A lot of people play Civ to win, they're "solving a puzzle", and they get the typical problem-solving rush from it. Others play more to "build". They still get an aesthetic rush out of it, but the reward is a little longer-term and they'll actively avoid an early win.

It seems like the first type would weight a good early unit more heavily, because the "problem" isn't just to win, the rush comes from winning as soon (as early) as possible - while the second player type usually tries to stay out of wars until later. So, they'll appreciate a good late unit more (and get bitten by them more if they're fielded by an opposing civ.)
 
I would put sipahi at lower/middle tier. + Sight range, free pillage, are nice for some purposes, but it can't be upgraded...
Hoplites are nice at begin against an enemy who really relies on cav. They also have some more chances against swordsmen, but normally they become too fast obsolete and have no other advantage than +2 strength. It's nice, but not that useful. they can die after landsknecht ;). Maybe landsknecht should have already died instead of the panzers. Panzer makes tanks little bit useful.

Mohawk warrior is just as bad as Landschnekt and worse than the hoplite why is it still so high? Maybe because it does look cool?
