Well, we've got a Unique Unit Elimination Thread, a Unique Building Elimination Thread, and a Unique Improvement Elimination Thread - guess we just need a Unique Ability Elimination Thread now! As in the other threads, voting goes +1, -3 [to expedite matters, voting is now +2, -4], and please explain why you're voting the way you are.

Well, someone would have to just start this...

America - Manifest Destiny - 20
Arabia - Ships of the Desert - 20

Germany - Furor Teutonicus - 20
Greece - Hellenic League - 20
India - Population Growth - 20
Indonesia - Spice Islanders - 21 For those who haven't tried it out, it is amazing. Essentially, it's 12 extra happiness, 24 if you do lux-for-lux trades.
Japan - Bushido - 17
Korea - Scholars of the Jade Hall - 20
Mongolia - Mongol Terror - 20
Morocco - Gateway to Africa - 17 Another UA that a lot of people love to hate. Not only is it giving you a very small advantage (a grand total of 27 gold per turn and 9 culture in the late game) but it also helps your opponents. If Morocco can only send trade routes to 1 civ, that's 3 extra gold, because it has to be a different civ each time (I think). If that other civ has two cities, then they can get 4 extra gold.

So, are we supposed to vote for our favorite/least favorite UA (Meaning almost everyone votes for Poland and slowly eliminates everyone else), or just UAs that we find better than what most people say?

+1: Siam - As long as city states aren't overly contended by the AI and consulates/protect is still available to abuse, this UA can give a ton of extra culture, faith, and food with little effort.

-3: America - The +1 sight is nice, but I'll just say it. Looking at all these UAs, I would choose almost all of them before America. You get a few better turns of early scouting, but other than that, the tile buying might save you a few hundred gold over the course of a game if you use it a lot. Compare that to the Shoshone, which has better scouts (pathfinders), and free extended territory, or to Spain, which gives you 600 gold minimum over the course of the game, and quite often a really powerful city or two. America just isn't as good as these other civs, even if it is useful.

It works just like the other threads. Give +1 to a UA you (personally) like and -3 to one you (personally) dislike. But if you like a UA that you find better than what most people say, then by all means vote for it.

+1 Poland - one of the best, if not THE best UA in the game. Can help with anything. Strong ability of a strong civ which also owns two decently good uniques.

-3 Morocco - Morocco is a bad, overrated civ. The bonuses it gets in all areas are negligible. UA gives little early game and is unnoticeable later on, Kasbah will give you a whole +1 gold compared to farm and +1 production at the cost of -1 food, which is kinda pathetic. Comes late-ish on a tech that is definitely not my go-to in medieval (university tech is). Desert without Petra is still bad, so why even bother with this thing.

Berbers would be great, but they're still horse units in a game that mostly hates melee, horses and armor, and loves ranged waaay too much. Hope Fall Patch nerfs ranged or gives massive buffs to all melee units with no exceptions (of course without buffing stuff like Camel Archers, which would be completely insane).

I'm personally fond of using that second Founder slot on Pilgrimage alongside something like World Church or Tithe as it creates this unstoppable Faith machine that only gets stronger the more you spread it, while you reap in an insane amount of cash and culture.

The Huns - Scourge of God - 17 - The Huns are fantastic at conquest. This is entirely due to their UUs. Their UA functionally amounts to 1 production from pastures for what practical effect it has. From a standpoint of Unique Abilities alone, this is by far the weakest in the game. Granted it's not necessarily needed, in all honesty the way the Huns are set up, they basically don't even need a UA, since their whole shtick is "be halfway to a Domination victory by the Medieval era", and era-specific conquest is best represented by UUs, but the fact remains, if all a civilization had were Unique Abilities, the Huns would be the worst of the lot.

I'm assuming this follows the same vote once a day rule as the others do?

America - Manifest Destiny - 17
Arabia - Ships of the Desert - 20
Assyria - Treasures of Nineveh - 21
Austria - Diplomatic Marriage - 17: Austria's coffee house is pretty decent, but this seems very situational at best. I like city state allies! They provide a ton, and this is a really expensive ability to get rid of something already good that you've already paid for and allied! Anyone want to explain to me why this ability is more useful than getting one late game costal city for the sydney opera house or mid game for a navy?

India - Population Growth - 12 - This isn't the best one, but it's not the worst UA either as everyone seems to believe. Tall play has been greatly buffed in BNW, and India is already good at tall. Get some internal trade routes for that extra food, and enjoy your huge cities!

America - Manifest Destiny - 14 A pretty mediocre UA if you ask me. Buying tiles should seldom be needed with a decent check on culture, and the +1 sight isn't really major, or anything.
Arabia - Ships of the Desert - 21 This, combined with the Arabian UB, can result in a flourishment of gold across any era, even in a landlocked start. Then there's the oil bonus, which equates to near infinite bombers for the endgame.

The Inca - Great Andean Road - 21 I'm currently obsessed with everything Incan (IRL and in-game), so this may be slightly biased. Either way, I think Great Andean Road is great, because in my current game, if I played a civ other than Incan, I would be paying about 20 gold in Road Maintenance. Instead, I pay 2 GPT. That's very powerful.
