I'm currently 5% behind the leader in literacy(science) and I can't seem to catch up. I'm building all science buildings as I can and doing research agreements, but is there something I'm missing? I play as Rome on king
I play Immortal now (and I find it incredibly hard) but I was stuck on King for months, these are the most common mistakes I made and that I would advise you to check out:
>Building wonders instead of buildings/units
>No scouting, few discovered Civs/City states (means fewer quests, trade routes, money)
>Not assigning specialists because I felt building stuff quicker was better than specialists
>Delaying National College until way after Turn 150, building it anywhere I had a free space, rather than checking where my Science is the highest; mountain&observatory etc.
>Neglecting science buildings for building combat units
>Having too few/too many cities; waiting too long for new cities- if you have only 2 cities at turn 200 and you are not warring, you are in an uncomfortable position
>Research techs based on the next step only, not planning ahead
>In general: not knowing what techs bring which boni and which buildings; not really knowing what a building does, etc
