Erebus

Tsanal is standing next to the corpse, and after discussing the matters with himself, he replies: "While I understand your disgust, I can't help but be fascinated by this creature. It is some pretty advanced magic, and I don't understand why it has broken free from its masters control. It's an extremely good piece of work, although I, like you, am disgusted by this act of manipulation.
Shapeshifting should only be done on willing targets, or at least people who are able to stop you. Doing it on a defenceless animal is just cruel. But... Still, I'd like to know how. I wouldn't use it, of course, but I'm just interested in how it was done. Don't get me wrong, I don't enjoy cruelty, but I enjoy knowledge, and this is an amazing feat of magic."
Tsanal takes his book, pen and ink and begins to note down what he can find out about the enchantment, and the results of scanning it's mind.

"I agree, it is morbidly fascinating, and a fenominal feat of magic. if anything, studying the beast should show you somehting of what we may be up agains,t and might also shed light on how to defend against such magic."

The mercenary captain (Larsa; Rayne is the Amurite scout) is grateful for the help in burying his comrade. He removes a small copper medallion from the dwarves neck before doing so, as a reminder to get his next of kin his final payment.

"I haven't heard of this other guild, though clearly some magic is at work we had some warning to expect great powers here, passed through the lineage of a hero sorceror-king, but supposedly the crown exerts control over this sort of experiementation."

He nods to Munak. "Aye. The organization we represent was founded in among the nearby Grigori. I travelled there to join it in my youth, as an orphan, as they were offerering sponsorships to healthy young men in those days. We participated in some skirmishes among the Lanun and Bannor war. Shall I assume you are a Kuriotate lass? What brings you here?"

(Mrydden uses his mind speach earing to communicate with the rest of his companions: )

"shall we join these guildmemebrs untill we get to Glorairine? i think it would be benefitical. and we might find something out about the OO on the way"

"Yes... better protection. we don't know if there are more of these indicates the Corpse around"

I am indeed a Kuriotate learning for pri... oh, you lived among the Grigori you say? Err as I was saying I'm providing protection escorting these Amurites to their homeland. They're mages you know. They can't even tie their own shoelaces. So... say, you don't happen to be one of those "Dragon Slayers", do you?

Tsanal walks over to the Kuriotate and asks: "So, you live among the Grigori you say? Perhaps you would be interested in telling me a bit about their philosophy? I am very interested in it, I fully agree that we shouldn't be bound by the bonds of 'Gods', although I accept that others may feel the need," nodding towards Mryddyn and Thomas. He then continues, obviously delighted by the possibility of discussing things with likeminded people: "So, what are your views on the use of the more... Sinister magics? For good means of course."

As everyone who can write has his or her own handwriting, so does everyone who is able to use magic leave a personal trace, which can be felt by other mages. Some people are skilled enough to tell the exact person who did it, while most can get a rough view of one's personality.

Neither Tsanal nor Ken are skilled in this, but they are able to roughly read the trace of the chimera.

The creator of the beast is or was someone with a leaning towards chaos magic. Likely to have an imaginative mind but perhaps with little respect towards authority.

This proves nothing, except that you can fairly rule out the possibility of the chimera being some sort of border patrol extension. It wouldn't be uncontrolled, and people who don't respect rules seldom get to make them.

The mercenaries pack up their camp as you converse, having paid due respect to their fallen comrade. At Tsanal's prompting, he removes the eagle's head, the smallest of the three, at the neck just past where feather's transition to fur. He wraps in in a rough blanket and presents it to you.

He replies to your question as you all set off together. No formal arrangement is made, but you all seem headed the same way.

"I consider myself kuriotate moreso than Girgori, but of the Guild more than any nation, or even god, though I pay homage to Amathaon as a duty to my ancestors. Among the Grigori, there are many who believe strongly in their culture and peoplehood, but there are many more like me who flock there because it frees them to follow their own goals and dreams, and so enterprise soars there. The Guild of Nine gave me my home, and they have my alliegence. Though not all of my collegues feel as strongly, of course, the other chapter captains tend to."

"The lass said you are a mage guild, was it? Were you among the Amurite mercenaries in the Bannor-Lanun war? Rumor among the nearby lands was they showed some distinction, with skills harkening back to the pre-winter ages, and we had hoped to find some to recruit."

"Well, I'm a member of the mage guild back in <Name of some random Amurite city near Gloraine>. Just a normal member, though. I don't really know if we are the ones you're thinking about, but we did help the Bannor." Tsanal says.
Then, after speculating about the possible risks and rewards, he continues: "Regarding the Mercenary guild... What will my duties be? Am I free to quit any time I like? What do I gain from it? I may be interested, but I want to know it all before making my decision. My companions opinions are also a deciding factor."

Tsanal whispers to Mipe:
Spoiler :
"Why would we want to do that?"

Tsanal replies to Mipe:
Spoiler :
"As unbelieveable as it seems, it IS a coincidence. I studied it for some time, and I'm nearly completely sure that it's a rogue. Not that that'll make it less dangerous, 'cause that means that there can be more around here.
