Merchant vessel upgrade

Hi,

I'm curious about this one, it provides a large retreat chance, but it is for merchant ships... They can't attack and retreat chance is only for attack...

So, is the 'retreat in dockyard' chance affected by retreat chance? That would makes sense, but I really don't know...

Merchant ships also can defend in a fight - the chance for retreat will keep them from sinking - retreat chance is not only for attack.

What? I never saw retreat works when defending! And I'm pretty sure it needed a special data in Civ4 called DefenseRetreat or something.

No, I think that is not correct.

I have not looked how the mechanism works, but in the Vanilla Game, the promotion for a withdrawal (so it is called in Civ:Col) can be achieved for all Navy units - i.e. for units which only can defend as well (like the caravel) - so I think it works for other units. Btw I have seen a withdrawal of defending units ingame a lot of times.

So if I attack a unit which has 100% withdrawal chance, it should retreat, right? That's easy to test...
