Falklands War PBEM

When the other pbem is over I will unleash my strategy in that thread. :) But the major part of my strategy I can say right now was selling improvements in backwater cities. Not only do they give a nice reward when mass-sold, they do not cost any more maintenance when sold. I used this money to rush defensive improvements, pucaras, and several skyhawks. I don't think it is unbalanced.

No offense Darius; i understand your position. I couldn´t agree more. :goodjob:
This time... i made the english invincible:D . If you think that argentina is too weak in this game and it´s not fun to go on, you can quit. Don´t worry.
As I told you before, it wasn´t a waste of time. I finally "discovered" the other extreme of the game (England supremacy) Now, i can really make a balanced scenario.

In reference to Ohwell strategy... obviously, i can´t do anything to avoid that. IT´s completely fair. You can sell everything to obtain enough resources to go on fighting. And the sank of one english carrier was a huge success too :goodjob:

Guys: I just want to tell you that I really appreciate your help :goodjob: NOW i have enough info to create a well balanced scenario. Anyway, i´d like to see the end of both tests...

Well of course I did that too, probably to an even greater extent than you did (I sold an improvement each turn in every city for about five turns until there was nothing left but city walls since they're one gold and marketplaces since I wanted to keep my dollas up). I also disbanded them fortresses into destroyers like Pinkygen did.

But Ohwell, that doesn't matter when the units you rush are useless!!! I might as well not have them if they can't kill anything!

If you think that argentina is too weak in this game and it´s not fun to go on, you can quit. Don´t worry.

Hey, I joined as a favor not so much for fun, so of course I'll finish it.

We'd like to thank the Argentinian commander for publicly stating that reinforcements are en route to the Falklands. :D

Airstrikes have attacked some of these Argentinian troops on the eastern Falkland islands. Transports and concentrated troops are destroyed. We do not know if these troops are recently arriving, or have been stationed on this island. Perhaps the Argentinans wish to defend the smaller east and surrender the West to Britannia.

Darwin is shelled by destroyers and attacked by marines, very useful at killing AA guns and aircraft. Stupid Argentinian defenses destroyed a veteran destroyer, grrr. Won't do that again.

Also, Darius, not all the destroyers are veterans, in fact only a few are.

Note I actually saved the file in the zipped folder as Argentina, not England, silly habit of mine.

As for the forts, to stop the strategy it appears everyone is using, reduce the cost of the forts to around 0, thus their is not nearly as much bonus when disbanding them.

Sigh, absolutely no action taken. It'd take about fifty (honest to God fifty) bombers to beat British sea harriers in cities, so what the hell. If this were real life I would have surrendered before they even set foot on the islands, but I guess you two want me to play through.

Destroyed Argentinian attempt to destroy roads. Some more selected airstrikes on Argentinian troops.

Finally some action...

The British venture into the Falkland Sound has met utter disaster! Two destroyers and a submarine were lost in the sound, and a stack of TEN units was sent to the bottom of the sea north of San Carlos! Further ships were predictably spotted north of Gran Soledad, including a completely unescorted transport bearing SEVEN units! Yeeha! Britain won't have much to do with a bunch of planes and ships but hardly any ground troops. Time for a good 'ol stalemate. :)

Y'all know me, of course I had a dirty little plan ready to spring somewhere...

Damm, I knew I messed up with forgetting to attatch a destroyer to that group.

But guess what, you sank my ships, after three turns of *****ing about how you were going to lose. Maybe now you can stop talking about unbalanced.

It absolutely still is; your ships and planes are completely invincible to my planes. The only thing I have that can touch you is using actual surface ships which I have hardly any of, and/or bribing your ships like I did.

Btw academia I thought you were against bribing? Why is there a diplomat in this scenario?

Well, the man who didn't like bribing in Star Wars felt like doing it with a British Destroyer. (Ah well, I'll still back you up in AoW :D )No doubt that's how the fleet was reduced. The treacherous lowly englishmen, who dare betray our Queen, have met a watery death. It was too kind for them.

PS, your diplomat was destroyed when I took San Carlos. And oh yes, San Carlos was taken, helicopters are lovely craft. You are now suffering a marginal defeat. And yes, I suppose you could bribe San Carlos back to your camp.

Academia, a note, take out the diplomats.

A few of my helicopters appeared to be in weird areas, but I'm sure I controlled N, quite odd.

PG Im back home now, this is exactly what was happening to me, althogh it seemed to get under control by the end of the game, it gets very frustrating! :crazyeye: :crazyeye:

Guys:
If you want, you can finish this test. ok?
Darius is absolutely right. I played a couple of turns...
British Ships and Planes are invincible :(

So... future modifications:
1) Veteran status for Argentine Aircrafts and Exocets. Correct?
2) Take out diplomats.
3) One more turn to deploy british helicopters. Correct?
4) Reduce the cost of the fortress to around 0

Anything else, guys?

You know, during turns 7 and 9 some Lynx helicopters may appear near the north of the Eastern island. That´s the result of an events command (create unit)
I guess that should be the "weird problem" you are talking about.
Is it so annoying?

if they are free helicopters, than no, not so annoying. Not troublesome at all, I was just worried it was my own helicopters moving to exposed conditions.

I'm against city bribing, not unit bribing, if you read more carefully.

Great, I have 119 gold, so of course I can bribe. But hey, if my fleet wants to defect, so be it. It's there souls. ;)

More fun helicopters appear.

Argentinian troops that landed completely obliterated by air forces. Please land some more, I'm even going to be a sport and let that fortress still stand.

Transport that was carrying a fortress was sunk. I think a new House Rule of no transporting the unbeatable fortresses might soon have to be in order.

PS: That must have been quite a feat sinking those two destroyers taking the southern passage. I hope it at least cost you some aircraft.

Mmm... i´m not sure about the use of the new fortress unit.
The only advantage is that prevents england from invading the continent. But on the other hand, the menace of a chilean sneak attack dissapears. Plus, the argentine player may sell them to obtain more money to build troops.

I think i´ll use your idea Pinkygen. The one of "invisible" sea units. Similar to the chilean impassable terrain; but in this case they´ll be placed near the coast.
