Korea and Ancient Wonders DLC Video!

Are the new wonders available in the regular games?
I don't think so. He's talking about the wonders, bla, bla, bla and then he mentions there's also a scenario.
So I think it's a true 'wonder DLC'.

Edit:
Or did you mean in the regular game when you've bought the DLC in the single player game?
I think yes :)

I was mistaken with 'vanilla' when you said 'regular'. I don't think the wonders will be available in the regular game when you don't buy the DLC.

Korea DLC looks like fun, by the way. Quite strong on the tech-side.
Love it how the right UA and UU's were guessed on this forum. (either as educated guesses or as wishful thinking ;) )

Nothing we can't figure out when we mash our heads together. :D
Just looked some up. Mind you, these are only examples as many people properly guessed either a UU, UA or the leader:

Turtle ship replacing caravel (Revoran)
The catapult is a Classical Age unit but the H'Wacha wasn't invented till the 1500's - it would be more appropriate for the Hwacha to replace the cannon. Similar situation with the turtle ship which should probably replace the caravel if anything.

Hwacha replacing trebuchet (Louis XXIV)
Why not have the Hwach'a replace a Trebuchet? Better for time period, better for balance (already have a catapult replacement). I'd make the argument for a Turtle replacing a Caravel for similar reasons.

Science for specialists (Morningcalm)
The fact of the matter is, Korea is portrayed as scientific and commercial/financial in previous Civ games because of modern Korea's high literacy and fervor for education and growth. Having King Sejong be a bit more science/culture/defense oriented is just fine. He was the Enlightenment king of Korea basically--encouraging scientists, artists and warriors alike. Maybe having each specialist give +1 production and +1 science when settled (bonus increases in later ages), and some Golden Age related bonus? Or defensive buildings produce faster and give science + culture. *shrug* We'll find out when we find out I guess.
Close enough, anyway :)

No Sumeria? This is just an outrage.
How can they do this? Sumeria is one of the most great ancient civilizations in the world and they dump it like this while including **** like "the American Empire"? An outrage!
Moderator Action: Nation bashing is considered trolling in this forum.

The German guy was right again it seems.
My predictions were right also, that Sumeria and the Hittites would be scenario-only, while Korea would be an official civ.

First Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56m47UPCV1A&feature=player_embedded#at=71) Highlights

Temple of Artemis:
- Culture +1
- GP Engineer +1
- +10% Growth all cities
- +15% Production building ranged units (unclear if in that city or all cities)

Mausoleum of Halicarnassus:
- Culture +1
- GP Merchant +1
- +100 Gold each time a great person is expended
- Each source of marble or stone worked by this city provides +2 Gold

Statue of Zeus:
- Culture +1
- +15% combat strength when attacking cities

Artemis seems nice for tall empires to keep growing & build ranged units for defense.

Mausoleum is somewhat intriguing. Will be AMAZING for OCC especially with multiple stone/marble. Other situations...we'll see.

Zeus is a bit boring but clearly would be nice for warmongers.

OCC is definitely going to be my first game with Korea!

Would this mean Sumeria is definitely out of the picture as a full civ? I'd have loved to see Sumeria in the game.
Oh, well

Artemis is also (tech-wise) on the way to the Hanging Gardens. Massive growth!
And then when you play as the Aztecs the floating gardens are also picked up along the way... Monty's Megalopolis! :king:

Statue of Zeus...so darn cool! Hopefully these wonders can be built in SP and MP!

I'm sure Sumeria and the Hittites will make it into the main game eventually. With the new DLC system, the developers have every incentive to add as many civilizations as possible. In fact, I rather like it, because when we do get expansion packs, the main selling point will be more game features instead of just lots of civs. At least I hope so.

Well, my interest in the Ancient Wonders DLC just dropped to zero. Wonders are nice, but not nice enough that I feel like paying for them. Maybe if they go on sale in Winter.
Korea looks pretty great though.

Korea Special ability: +2 science for all specialists and for all Great Person tile improvements. Receive a tech boost each time a scientific building/Wonder is built in the Korean capital.
Korean Hwach’a: Anti-personnel rocket unit of the medieval era. Strong against land units but weak against cities. Replaces the Trebuchet.
Korean Turtle Ship: Heavily armored naval unit of the Renaissance Era that is extremely difficult to kill. However Turtle Ships cannot enter deep ocean hexes. Replaces the Caravel.

... A caravel that can't enter deep ocean tiles and a trebuchet that is piss poor against cities?

Great.

I like it how the UU's have drawbacks and that the drawbacks are normally the strong points of the 'normal version'.
Trebuchet strong against cities, Hwach'a weak against cities
Caravel is the typical ocean explorer, the Turtle Ship can't enter ocean tiles.
It balances the strenghts of the units out (and boy, are they strong).

You can't use them properly though in a domination victory, the Hwach'a may be good with the Zeus and the Siege promotion, but other then that it is just a typical defensive unit, same goes for the Turtle Ship, except it is crippled to the point where it is unusable on most maps to a proper degree.

Just another Babylon, a defensive scientific Civ.

On the other hand, if the anti-unit promotion of the Hwachaa takes over onto other artillery units, good bye taking Korean cities post Middle Ages... Their units are clearly defensive. Korea will be a real Turtle: Tall Specialist Economy with Spikes all around...

The Koreans as a civ seem to be designed to turtle & defend. The units would seem great for defense, which suits them perfectly.

I do wonder about the turtle boat. How are you supposed to meet the other civs? As a small civ RAs would be a high priority, but if you have to wait to discover everyone with frigates that wave of RAs will be much delayed...
