Venice, Austria, and Incorperated CS's

When Venice buys out/consumes a CS,
1) if you take Venice, the city, do the CS's revert to stand-alone CS's?,
2) and after Venice has been knocked off, can you 'liberate those CS's, or merely take them?
3) Ditto for Austria .
Or is it a case of 'once you go purple, you cannot go back'?

I believe you can't liberate them.

And if you capture the capital, the 2nd biggest city becomes their capital.

Which will have really bad consequences for Venice since their capital will then be a puppet.

AI Austria normally founds a few cities before marrying anybody and in addition normally annexes those city states it does marry.

Austria's marriage is annex, I believe, from the description, so you cannot liberate them. Venice's cities are all puppets and can be liberated, but I'm not sure how the puppet into capital mechanism works

Yes, Venice ends up puppetting the former CS, but that is just how their UA works. Another civ can not liberate them.

Both purchased and married city states can't be liberated.
