[BTS] Fictionalization IV

Well, keep in mind that it is still in beta. I should be able to release a new version of the beta with, among other things, the essential text files in place - diplomacy banter, custom wonder descriptions, the basic stuff. Writing full pedia entires will take much longer.

Some suggestions. If you already have them, please forgive me. I think they apply to the time period:

  • Tintin (Leader of Belgium or France)
  • Asterix (Leader of Gaul or France)

At long last, the third version of the beta is now up. I've added plenty of new animated LH's both of my making and others, added a few new heroes that utilize The J's Respawning promotion, introduced Utopia and reintroduced the Inca to the game, and made lots of other changes that I forgot to write down.

Link in the first post.

Another humble suggestion.... Dogbert as a leader? I dunno which empire he would leader, but it's an idea...

Sorry if any of these ideas have been said already
wonders- Miskatonic University
Sylent green factory
American leader- Emperor Norton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_Norton

Also, http://www.monstropedia.com is good for mythological creatures

I'm probably not going to add any more leaders, especially not to civs that already have three.

Although Miskatonic has crossed my mind. I was originally going to use it as the Yuggoth Shrine before I replaced it with R'lyeh. Still, I'm sure I could find a use for it.

I hadn't thought of Soylent Green. I suppose it could be a wonder for the Next War era.

and thanks for the link! I'm sure I could get a lot from it.

I don't recall if you had fictional resources in mind or not. There's an awful lot in the modern era - but instead of making individual suggestions I will refer you to the handy-dandy Wikipedia list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_elements,_materials,_isotopes_and_atomic_particles

Which leads me on a brief search of Wikipedia and all sorts of similarly useful pages:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_clergy_and_religious_figures
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Fictional_buildings_and_structures
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_countries
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_locations

Etc., etc.

I also wonder - do you plan to include any fictional technologies? A few examples:

Alchemy - allows creation of an Alchemist's Lab National Wonder, which increases science and if the civilization has access to multiple mineral resources, provides Gold.

Advanced Steam Machinery - before the Industrial Revolution - allows steampunk automatons to be built for battle, (perhaps steampunk boats and airships as well), but they are expensive to build.

Electromastery - allows creation of the Tesla Coil, which provides electricity earlier than existing generators (though more expensive).

Astrology - precursor to Astronomy, provides people more direction in finding their fates and potential - First person to discover it receives a free Great Prophet. Priest specialists now produce an extra GP point. +1 Happiness under Paganism.

Elemental Chemistry - the understanding that everything is made of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Windmills and Workshops produce an additional hammer.

Dowsing - your Workers are now able to "Build" fresh water in all terrain types except Hills and Mountains.

Dianetics - a science of the mind, Universities provide 1 additional happiness. Under Organized Religion, your temples produce an additional +1 Gold.

Perpetual Motion - an advanced science - your wheeled ground units all gain 1 additional movement point every turn.

Cold Fusion - Reduces the cost to build of nuclear power plants and eliminates the chance of meltdown.

Again, apologies for any of this stuff that is duplicates of ideas you already have or have already rejected.

Adds these :

Franz Schultz=> look like Adolf Hitler (1900-1943) he destroys the old monarchy to replace a dictatorship like Hitler but with Nazi fanatics. He is killed by allied bombing in August 1943.

Hermann Schlieben=>looks like Churchill without cap (1920-1990) father of Erwin Schlieben parliamentary monarchy (He dismisses the fanatics to restore the monarchy.)

Erwin Schlieben=> looks like Justinien (Erwin is Slovak origin) (1940-2009) =>President of Peenemünde and after kaiser of Peenemünde (parliamentary monarchy)

and Peenemünde Empire (fictionnal civilization)

Oh believe me, the wikipedia lists of fictional things has been the first place I've gone to for research since day one. I haven't considered many fictional resources, although I'm sure if the gameplay is right, I can work them in somehow. Others I might include glancing references to (for example, I could program an event where Rearden Metal becomes widely produced and it gives tanks an extra movement point or something)

Cold Fusion is already in there. The mod uses Next War features, which include future technologies.

Although, adding new techs would clean up some things, like the new religions I've added.

What are these things from? Can you give me a link?

Dianetics are the sciene of Scientology. Do you really think, this science should give a bonus to...anything?

I would like for German civilization :

leader : Henry I, king of germany

It all starts in the ninth century with the current invasion of Germany by Charlemagne and Evangelism, destroying traditional pagan religion.

In 918, Henry I, King of Germany, reintroduced pagan worship and destroyed Christianity in his kingdom. It is a kind of pact with the traditional deities, allowing it to acquire many evil powers, with which he raises an army of living dead. It grants the Black Knights, his three most loyal companions, similar powers and proceeded to conquer Europe. Its route crosses 943 in that of Simon the traveler, a Benedictine monk. This has long traveled the world and has studied the spiritual and esoteric knowledge of ancient civilizations. Thanks to this, he also has magical powers. After a hard fight, he manages to destroy the Black Knights, and Henry I immured in the Harz Mountains in central Germany.

He is evil and dangerous leader with his big sword.

Very nice.
I wish I could recommend a second leader for Atlantis, something closer to mythological Atlantis, but all I can come up with is The Magician.*
Very neat mod idea, though.

*I feel so bad for making this reference.

Actually, I've already got one. Atlas, son of Poseidon and the first King of Atlantis (different from the Titan Atlas).

But one thing that could help me right now involves the game's wonders. I've been researching possible wonders to put into the game that could be swapped out for the original Firaxis wonders. I've already replaced the Forbidden Palace with Camelot, the Hermitage with Xanadu, Sankore with Miskatonic University, and so on. Things from fiction that would give the same effect that the regular wonders do.

So, if anyone has any ideas for suitable wonders that could replace the Firaxis ones, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Sure thing. Here are the wonders I have yet to change.

Spoiler :
Angkor Wat
Apostolic Palace
Chichen Itza
Cristo Redentor
Globe Theatre
Heroic Epic
Ironworks
Notre Dame
Oxford University
Red Cross
SDI
Stonehenge
The Colossus
The Eiffel Tower
The Great Library
The Great Wall
The Hagia Sophia
The Internet
The Manhattan Project
The Mausoleum of Maussollos
The Parthenon
The Pentagon
The Space Elevator
The Spiral Minaret
The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Zeus
The Taj Mahal
The Temple of Artemis
The Three Gorges Dam
Versailles
Wall Street
West Point

The only ones I definitely want unchanged are the Pyramids, Broadway, The Oracle and Rock n Roll, partly because they tie in well with a fictional setting.
