The AI and teamplay

Thinking about playing three players vs two teams of three AI's, but with BNW having changed the AI a lot (I think?), how good is the AI at teamwork with each other? Only tried it once before BNW, and every AI was cut off from their partner because of continents.

There are a few maps that have a setting to group allies together. I forget which ones.

Or maybe play on a large map with two ai teams of 4, bump up the difficulty and the ai might be a challenge.

I suspect that you will need to start wars with the ai to make them dangerous. They seem to be content to sit back and trade with bnw.
