Think a UU is useless, here's were you decide how to change thier stats.

As for me I think the spanish conquestor should be a 70 shield knight replacement that treats all terrian as if it were a road but not in enemy territory, it also should see within a 3 square radius regardles of terrian.

The result is you get a knight that can send renforments quickly, is good at exploring and knows whats coming.

In my humble opinion, any unit that doesn't have a strength increase over what it replaces is nearly useless. The Camel Archer and Conquistidor fall into this category. Their only benefit is that the Conquistidor gets +50 vs melee in an era where Longbowmen do the defense, and the Camel Archer, also a replacement for the Knight, gets a withdrawl from combat chance. Oh - and the Camel Archer doesn't require Horses in an era when EVERYBODY has horses. Navy Seals get March - which Marines can have after a couple of upgrades. Theres countless places where this occurs.
This is what makes the Romans and other units that actually get a strength increase, like the Cosack, even more powerful.

@zeeter - You're in the Civ III forums :p

I can't think of any major changes I would make, except for maybe giving the Conquistador a little more power.

well - i added all these units to the standard game, and it's waaaay more interesting now...

tho some civs (like scandinavia, rome and japan) have got a few more unique units and some(like egypt and spain) have no new units :D but hey... atleast now everyone isnt equal..so it's a bit more realistic.. :D

How in the heck did I get in the Civ3 forums? Dag - kinda makes what I said pretty stupid....

Sorry guys!

The Impi could really use an extra point of attack power. It's really awkward, as many have pointed out before, for a offensive-minded Civ like the Zulu (Miltaristic+Expansionist) to have what is essentially a defensive-oriented UU (The Impi is 1-2-2 that replaces the Spearman). Maybe if the Impi were like the Gallic Swordsman (3-2-2 and replacing Swordsman)...

The Conquistador either ought be a little tougher OR upgradable to cavalry (it's a big improvement over the Explorer, but then, you're not fighting explorers, are you? You're fighting Knights and Pikemen, and the Conquistador doesn't quite have the strength to match either).

That's all I can think of.

Well I think the Impi's major bonus is it can escort horsemen. However I only use horsemen on uncrowded maps, the rest of the time swordsmen are the way to go. I think the Zulu are best for warmonning on uncrowded maps becuase they are expantionist and have Impi.
