I know the distance business.

However, I can't quite work this out.

I am playing as Ethiopia. Trading partner is USA. My religion was founded well before Americas (if that makes any difference).

My capital city has a population of 12 with 11 following my religion of Judaism (pressure 60).

Washington has a population of 16 with 12 following his religion of Confucianism (pressure 48) and 3 following Judaism (pressure 12).

If I set up a trade route between Addis Ababa and Washington I get a Confucianism pressure of 6 but he gets nothing.

Anyone know how this bit works?

Do you have extended range of religious pressure? If so, maybe Washington is in your natural range (and trade route gives presure only if normally there is no from given city)

Sorry- what do you mean by "extended range of religious pressure"?

Itinerant preachers - Religion spreads to cities 30% further away. If you have this enhancer and his city is between 11 and 13 hexes away, he will be able to pressure you through trade while you won't (since you are already doing it via city itself).
