Help! Can't Find Compatibility File

Information:
-Civ 3 Vanilla
-Windows 8


I cannot locate the Civilization3.ini file; I've searched all files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III

Everything I've read so far indicates a Compatibility File, which i cant seem to locate

Anyone think they can help me out.

The .ini file does not exist until you try to launch the game the first time.

I'm not sure what you mean by "compatibility file". I haven't heard the .ini file called that, and in CivIII the only way I might relate that to compatibility is for the screen resolution settings.

If you mean "Windows XP Compatability Mode", that is set in the properties of the .exe or the shortcut. However, in my experience everything works better if you install CivIII to a custom location outside of Program Files and Windows, and it works fine without compatibility or admin mode. My signature has a 10-minute video showing me running through an entire install like this on Win7, but it also works on Win8 and Win8.1.
