Suggestion for next civ to play?

Yeah nothing specific, but extra growth never hurts for any VC so the Aztecs are pretty versatile--I've found working specialists to be easier with them as well. Jungle bias could also mean sacred path which later is a lot of tile culture to get turned into tourism via the hotel and airports. They aren't designed for it though like Brazil :)

My opponents in this game are America, Huns, Assyria, Indonesia and India. I recognize that India is probably the one serious problem, though actually Attila has a decent amount of tourism too (6 tourism, same as me). One strategy I've commonly heard is you rob your opponents' great works in a war if you take their capital. Next war I have with the Huns, I may just do that.

The last war I had was with Attila, though I am a little worried about Indonesia, since he has the largest army right now. Will post some screencaps later of the world situation, but is Indonesia a big rival in terms of cultural victory?

Some civs have flavors for going cultural but all of them can decide to do it. there's some randomness each game. And actually, the more important thing here is their culture output not their tourism so much. You need to overcome their culture with your tourism and they need to overcome your culture with their tourism. Tourism is the offense in a cultural victory and culture is the defense. If they have a lot of works though then war can help make their tourism yours which is nice. This early in the game it's difficult to tell how they will play as no one has much tourism, an AI trying to win a culture victory will choose to gather loads of artifacts in the industrial era and put a lot of hammers into the international games. they will also likely have a huge culture lead if you view the tourism tabs. If you want to win you should read up in the requirements for victory as it has quite a bit of nuance to it.

Said I would have screencaps, and here they are. They show where my empire currently stands in number of cities, the policies I've adopted, and how I stand up in tourism.

Right now I have 6 tourism, right behind the leader Indonesia who has 8. I'm close to maxing out the Honor tree, and I am thinking that afterwards I will head straight for Aesthetics to shift to culture. Right now, I'm recovering from a long war with Attila, and want to just have some peace and quiet. Happiness is especially important to me right now.

Where would you all suggest I go in terms of research, building priorities, etc?

I'd say key tourism techs would be acoustics, printing press, and architecture, and I'm not a CV player but I recall having taken Aesthetics for CVs back when I used to play them more, it's a very good tree for that; however, one point into exploration allows building the Louvre, and of course Rationalism is very important to any VC. So it's tough from here onward, other opinions might need to be valued a bit more here as I'm not great with CVs

Been a while. So, update.

I couldn't really make any headway in the King difficulty Aztec game, since I was constantly getting out-teched by Indonesia. Not only that but Huns had lost their capital to America. I only had four some cities and my intel suggested Indonesia was scheming against me. So I quit while I was ahead. Was getting beaten in building cultural wonders anyway.

I want to start fresh, but still want to stick with King (unless people suggest otherwise). Try Aztecs again, or something else? Any victory condition is good, but right now I am trying to get a CV with Autocracy. Currently I have a modded game with Russia going, so I might do a science victory with that. Some guide I read a while back said that science was a good secondary choice with Russia, especially if you are playing wide.

I think you are giving up on games too soon. If they are no fun, that is one thing, but at King you should be able to win even if you are behind at some point.

The current GotM is for a CV at King, so I recommend that. You can really learn a lot from the game mechanics by reading how other people play the same map.

I'm not giving up on beating King. I know I can do it; it's just that I sometimes run into an impasse and don't really know how to proceed. However I will try this GotM thing you suggested. Since it's Byzantium, I'd really like to give it a go. I tried a bit with Byzantines but never really got anywhere definitive.
