That's what Obama's is, and Republican individuals have been very receptive (even if they'd still prefer one of their own). However, the powerbrokers--the ones who really want and have a stake in a Republican president--will do everything they can to turn this uniting asset of Obama's into some kind of 'wolf-in-sheep's-clothing', economic-communist,-social-anarchist-in-disguise liability. It's not true of course--Obama's style is one of unity and consensus, of common strenghs and shared hopes. He's a leader who wishes to lead a nation diverse in so many ways. Maybe its his open mindedness and respect for diversity, particularly including republicans and conservatism) that makes him a liberal. But not a leftwinger. He's liberal, but he's not a lefty.
Obama will put the good of our country before his own personal preferences of legislation and rules. In case you want an further pro-republican endorsement of why liberal Obama would still be a fine president even for you guys, The Nation doesn't like him because he puts the common good above the left's good.
