Now, it took a while but I thought i'd untick G&K so I could get the Ottoman achievement for capturing barabrian ships. It was a bit cheesy to farm the barbarian spwans at first, but then I got more of a taste for it.
But, the end results are great - a whole bunch of galleys XP'd up to bombardment 2 just waiting to be upgraded to a killer fleet to finish off the other civs. Probably works even better on marathon or epic speed, since you get the units free and have longer to train them. The only snag is expanding your cities and economy fast enough to pay the (reduced) maintenance on them. After that, pure win on a continents or archipeligo map.
