Cities that specialize

Cottages are for the weak.

Exception - capital and shrine / corporation city.

Everywhere else FARMS and Caste specialists. I. HATE. EMANCIPATION!

If cottages are for the weak, then all top players must currently be weak :goodjob: .

Specialists in cities are so stealable because other cities that conquer your cities can actually take them with your city if you're overpowered by the AI. Cottages aren't even that stealable since they only provide a small lump sum of gold for plundering them and not only that but the money you give away to AI when the AI captures your city is what gets the AI paid more so make sure you plunder the AI's towns down as much as possible.

I usually like to conquer the AI cities, and any developed cottages are more valuable to me as part of the city rather than as plunder gold. Unless the city has been victim of the build cottage-->build farm-->build workshop-->build cottage cycle. Then the cottages are all cottages or hamlets, and I may as well pillage them and build farms/workshops/watermills on the tiles instead.

In a way, conquering cities are a lot better than plundering cottages because cottages don't always pay that much particularly when undeveloped. Cities provide a city and also provide gold the first time you conquer them.

Ofc. conquering cities is better than pillaging everything around them. Cities can build units and also produce :gold: , plundering Cottages only gives a short temporary boost for the economy.

We all agree that conquering cities is better than plundering villages even.

Why do you then write it? And I don't mean the quoted post, but the one above. I totally get no clue at all about your posts.

Because Deity AI is so overpowered with all due respect.

What does this have to do with that?

Yes, I understood that, but what I didn't understand was this:

Why did you post the first post, when it's clear to everyone anyhow (statement of 3rd post) ?

I also asked why you posted the 3rd post, and you said, "because Deity AI is overpowered" , but I don't get what that has to do with conquering cities or plundering Cottages, which was what I asked.

It has to do with conquering cities and plundering cottages because in Deity it is almost rare to conquer cities at least for myself.

There are tactics with which you can conquer Deity-AIs. The easiest probably is the Marathon Inca-rush. Even with getting as many or twice as many cities through that, it's still hard on Deity. If you try standard / normal with a random leader, it's 10 times harder. You should choose easy settings to beat Deity at all, and once you have, you can go to more difficult ones. Or, probably better, simply play Immortal since you can win almost every round.

There was a player that once said "It's as far from Immortal to Deity, as from the lowest difficulty to Immortal" . Starting on Deity is madness (which is why I ofc. did so too ^^ ) .

Immortal huh. ..ok np.. I used to use quick Deity which is why I'm going to use immortal quick instead to see if I could stand a chance. Appreciate it..

Don't play quick speed, the scaling on it is horrible. Improvements even take 1T less if building them directly compared to 1. chopping 2. building the improvement, as I heard.

Also, the faster the speed, the better your micro must be, because you get less chances to micro. Offensive warfare is also a nightmare on quick, sometimes unit's obsolete while they're on the way towards the target :D .

Play normal or even epic for standard-scaling. On Marathon, all units only cost 200%, while you have 3 times the turns, the reason why Marathon is simpler, or allows for completely different things and also gives better finish-dates.

That's what I was thinking, changing to a slower speed. I just wanted to make sure of it. Thanks for helping me make sure about my speed change.
