Leader graphics dont show up

So leaders, and the counsil graphics are broken. They wont show up. I am playing on windows 8.

I couldnt install the game from my old CD so I downloaded the game, then put my cd in to play. It all works including music, but the video graphics are not playing at all.

Can anyone help me?

Researched, researched, researched and it worked:

1- Ran the program for compatibility mode for windows XP service pack 2

2- Updated the game with the latest patch on:
http://www.play-old-pc-games.com/2013/12/09/civilization-2/

I am not sure but I also installed the indeo codec somewhere on this site that someone linked. It was an old post from 2006 or something.

I dont know if that also helped, but I had installed it, then regretted it when it said that it could cause problems on more modern systems.

Try it without the codec first, then use the coded supplied from the post on this site as a last resort I guess if all of the above mentioned did not work.

Now back to civ 2 to its full glory!!!
