Goz-1, I left my wallet at home, but...

Lurker's comment: You guys are probably faking the confusion about the earth being round, do you? A fractal map always has X-wrap, all ocean maps do, some all-land maps even (I need to hurry up with my War Academy article about maps, so I can check these things in my own article :D).

Yeah, it was a joke;)

Family function today (I hate those) and little Xak's BDay tomorrow, my time.

Xakary is my my grandkid btw and I didn't choose the name. He's 2 now.

If JK want's to move this to the end, it's fine, but I'll be out of action for 2-3 days.

Just saying.

Lurker's comment: You guys are probably faking the confusion about the earth being round, do you? ).

We might be stupid, but in the world where I live in it's definetily square! ;)

My dad still believed in a pancake-world, before he passed on...Ahh, you fall over the edge of the world!!!!

So everything is relative to whatever you think is true. But a believable world is in this game as Optional described. On these types of maps, the world is very round. :)

JK didn't take the bait, so this is just a small update of what's going on.

I have played 4 turns.

What happened so far? Not much, just moving stuff.

On sunday my time, we'll know the rest. :)

Tomorrow to the zoo and BBQ, with most of families, not looking forward to it really. But a man has to do what a man has to do! "sigh"

Be back with a sunday update..

Will finish this tomorrow.

Went to the Werribee park, and little Xakary looked at the monkeys and said: Mommy, mommy.

I told him they are monkeys, he said yes and pointed again: Mommy!

Told the daughter later, she almost died. :)

Good day out, the game will be in tomorrow some time.

Right, finished the game but can't cap pics, so the report will wait until tomorrow.

So pls, be patient. :)

Preturn: Cities look ok, swap a couple of tiles for gpt.

Sell Hiawatha and Alex some luxes for 327g.

Lots of units to move, so I start move them towards their destinations. No visibility to the east. I decide to annex Onondaga and buy a caravel and another in Taghaza. Onondaga is building a courthouse, due in 7 turn when stagnated, too bad nothing was in the foodbox or we could've popped it 3-4 turns. Ah well.

Find units here and there, send them to the front too, if they make a difference I don't know, but they don't need to stand around doing nothing. Buy a cannon in Rome, that will follow a mandu. Will try to get a couple of units moving on the northern side of the map.

Checking cash, we have some 1311g and 99gpt, I will try to buy Rio and Kathmandu later. Cities set on wealth, nothing we can build will change the wars. Maybe I slot in a couple of units for home defense later.

Research is set to Navigation, Taj is being built in Cap, due in 4 turns.

Find 4 sleeping workers, put them to work.

Don't do that to me, or anyone else!

Press enter.

Turn1: Hanoi gift us a musketman, send him to Athens as he will never reach the frontlines.

Find a sleeping trireme too, how did I miss that one? I hate sleeping units and a trireme is not of any use right now, so I gift it to Rio and save us 3gpt.

Persepolis is a terrible place, surrounded by hills on one side and city close to the other. I think I glimpsed a pike there as well, when I was
sailing.

This makes it very difficult, if I want to keep some units alive. I check out the surroundings every turn to see what's going on there.
On the other hand, Pasargadae doesn't look invincible with only 16 strength, compared to Persepolis 28. Only problem is landing space.

Buy a pike in Rome to escort the mandu and cannon, might come in handy facing Jumbos.

Damn me, why didn't I buy a pike first in Taghaza, I buy one now but he will be a straggler a few tiles behind! :gripe:

A pike with a general is nasty to Phants, ah well I have to live with it. If we take Persepolis or Pasargadae, he will come in handy while our units heal...I hope?

We're down to 667g and 93gpt, so all money from now on will go to those 2 CS. No more units would reach the front anyways...

This is how set it up to other people, now I can taste my own medicine. :)

Turn2: We kill a barbcamp for 75g. Moving stuff is a pain, on land a general can be attached to a units, why not on sea? Ridiculous!
And why does the program ALWAYS ask me to move the straggler first? I need to move the main group before the later ones even get a tile..."sigh".

Persia have pikes next to Persepolis, and also settlers in the waters. Scabby AI.

Turn3: We are sailing with a mandu S of Greece and find CS-borders, but we can't enter meaning Greece killed a City-state. I'm not going to investigate it, we have other wars to fight now.

We meet another CS near Greece, Edinburgh.

Persepolis has a pike guarding a settler, a warrior and an archer, plus a GG in the Cap. Nothing super, but the terrain is awful for us, so I sail on for another turn. Might give Pasargadae a shot first. Before we declare, I'm going to buy Rio and IF we take Pasargadae we'll have a bridge to Siam. Too bad we didn't scout this out beforehand, I learnt the lesson now!

Turn4: Rome builds the Pyramids and we finish Taj Mahal, golden age! :)

Gao Porcelain Tower just for fun.

Move stuff closer, might as well try a double whammy, doesn't look too good though so let's see after next turn.

We get a Knight from Belgrade, I gift him to Rio and buy their alliance too for a 1000g.

Here's the setup:

Turn5: Sell something to Alex for 77g and 1gpt.

Denounce Persia and declare.

He dropped a pike in the sea near our caravel, thanks!

Land what can be landed. Casualties will happen I believe.

Turn6: We get Pasargadae down to 1/3, but a pain in the butt Phant hops in and take our tile.
Persepolis is down to half HP and we lost a unit still in the waters during IT.

We will lose another mandu IT, he got enough for upgrade, but that will never happen in silly CIV5. He should be able to upgrade right after the fight, not next turn when every AI and barb can kill it. So frustrating!

Got 2 more workers though.

Turn7: As expected, our mandu dies, but not without a fight as the pike only have 2 hp left and folks are eager to land. Bad choice for the pike though, he is next to our cannon.

But before that, the Phant attacked PAS as i call it now, and it it very redlined still.

We take it:

It will take 6 turns for the resistance, not good enough. It's time to join the Kathmandu and we've got whales!

Turn8: We learn Navigation and go for Economics in 8t, not that we'll get it.

Again they were lucky, city bombard and archer kills 8hp mandu, this game is so ed up. Try to kill something like that yourself and you take off max 5hp. .

Do a small attack on Persepolis, to keep them in red 7-8HP.

Turn9: Ok, a little bit of patience and we get Persepolis:

Forgot to take a pic of the city, 4 wonders.

In resistance for 9 turns!

Turn10: A couple of turn of struggle

I will play it to the end.

Turn 11-12: Just struggle

Turn13: We take Lampang, on the road to Sukhothai.

My little mini-army died, but killed a Phant and injured another badly. It was a diveersion, right, and it worked. :) 2-3 Phants there defending

the wrong spot! :)

Smashing Siam's cap with everything in reach, they are redlined, so redlined!

Turn14: Mindblowing, I took Satchwhatever just in spite, mandus are so strong against cities on attack.

Well, the cap it was.

Too easy:

Sorry for the delay, but family and work takes a bit of my time, sometimes more than I like.

But how the hell did Taj end up at the bottom? I edited the whole thing myself and only added pics where I said so?

Well, I guess it's an extra Golden Age for us then, hopefully irl!

Thanks team for playing! :)

EDIT: the save is the turn before winning....I hope.

Victory is ours! :woohoo:

Cue the parades and the party![party]:band::rockon::banana::high5::cheers: :trophy:

All in all, a pretty comprehensive victory. A sub-200 Domination is pretty good on this size map.

So great! :)
Although you played 4 of my turns!

No, really. Good job. :goodjob:

Great job! I'm really sorry about the sleeping units:sad: I found it very annoying to have to tell 8 workers what to do every turn when i knew we were going to win anyway. Seriously, I don't think i have ever had an army that big! It just obliterated everything in it's path! A very different game from what I usually play and a great learning experience. Thank you everybody!:)

Lurker's comment: Congratulations! The strong points of the Songhai have been used well in this game, it's a great example of what you can do with them.
