Interesting Screenshots

As far as I can tell, the AI will 100% of the time never ever ever ever ever ever trade gpt if they don't have a surplus of it, or if they have a surplus but the amount of gpt you're asking for would put them in a deficit.

This goes for even if you try to make them a deal like that that you'd have to be insane to decline.

That makes a lot of sense. I assume that's why the AI will rarely ever trade gpt in the early game as well.

what's that in the south? A road on water?

I am also interested in this. Does a road on water work the same way with ship movement points that land roads do with land units? And does the town working it get the extra commerce?

It seems that, I should have delivered a link to my post. ;)
This was apparently a test game for the sea workers based on ZergMazters idea.
More information can be found here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=551651
It allows to connect resources (think of iron on a one tile moutain isle) and cities without harbor but it does not improve movement nor safety on high sea.

I had oil to appear at sea. The KI was connecting it, but it is not possible to pillage a sea route.

I have disabled sea route some times ago.

Back to the Ottomans: I assume that they are running consequently a negative income as they are in Republic and have over 100 units in 4 cities.

On the other side by turning the game into multiplayer, I have seen some KI running insane gpt trades for techs with other KI often creating a negative income of several 100 gold.

Then I gifted them and Ghandi both 1000 gold for celebrations of my domination victory and both managed to get broke the very next round.

And after gifting them Astronomy they both tried to invade the Great Carthagian Republic...

Both tiles need to have a road: the one where the cannon is coming from and the one where it is going to.

Nice side effect: move a cannon onto a mountain tile with a road and then pillage the road on that tile. The cannon will be stuck on the mountain until a worker comes along and builds a new road there... :D

After finally reaching Hannibals isolated island start (ocean can not be crossed before Astronomy), I was surprised that the city of Carthago was not there and Hannbal has chosen Utica as his capital.

I am pretty sure, that the vulcano has something to do with this.

Does this mean, that I have to speak of Uticans instead of Carthagians? ;)

What's that ship in the foreground? It looks like a giant kayak.

ETA - oh I see. It's a battleship. I like it that you give them names. Great idea. Do you name lesser vessels, like destroyers and what not? I have started naming my armies (1st panzer army, 2nd panzer army etc) but I'm not really sure why. Battleships are different though.

Yes, I name all of my ships. Names are depending on type and nation (usually in german, dansk or english).

My armies usally get the name of the place of their creation (Sword of Zimbabwe, Heeresgruppe Osnabrück and so on).

The hero creating elite unit normaly gets the name of that hero and in most cases became part of the army created by that hero (as the unit can not spawn a second hero).

HMBS Empress of Zululand is btw a Vanguard class battleship.

Its a civ thing. Every true fanatic names their armies. "The Grand Imperial Army of the German Homelands." "The Northern Pacification Force."
:D

Not interesting, but fun. Byzantines trying to intimidate my caravel.

Interesting AI combined attack. That's how they've been attacking me lately. I added more unit types to my game which you can get depending on the resource you own. Since the AI doesn't always have every resource at once at their disposal, they build some units that upgrade to something else if a more advanced resource is acquired.

They'll build the strongest unit still, but have an upgraded army of the previous strongest unit they owned which is not linked to the stronger unit (for example no Infantry to Mech Inf, but instead Infantry to Tow)

I also have buildings in place that auto-produce those units the AI won't build, so even if they want to build only tanks, they'll also have helicopters.

Another interesting screenie. The AI is building too many roads in the water. Maybe I should rework this. At least it's working and they are connecting resources and continents.

Spoiler :

:coffee: I'd guess not. It's still sitting in nearly the same spot.

Though, motivated was more like it.
Byzantines aren't showing off now...

Sometimes the suggestions of your advisors are just plain stupid. It is no surprise, that the KI often does develop only poorly if they get the same suggestions and follow them.

On an interesting side note, there is constant war on this world (Monarch Level):

India turned into a bloody warmonger after the discovery of chivarly (War Elephants!) and droved the Vikings from their shared continent.

At the same time I was still busy to pacify Greece (left continent to the red continent), then India invaded me.

I was able to bribe everyone (even Greece) into a coalition against India.

And since then everyone except myself is in a constant state of war with wild changing alliances.

I feel slighly ignored by now... ;)

one has to concede that a nuclear plant adds +100% shields while all other plants add only +50%... so you*would* gain something from that building.

Sometimes it is near inconceivable, what antique units the KI keep using, instead of upgrading or retiring them.

Austria invaded me shortly before my space race victory (and maybe, because I refuse to sell them coal, uranium and aluminum ;) ).

I returned the favor to Kaiser Karl. During the defence of my bridgehead Kufstein, the austrian army exhibit the usual mix of antique and modern units (Spearmen, Archers, Horsemen joined by Infantry, Panzers and Late Cavalry).

But then I moved my fleet out of range of their Dora Railroad Guns, I spotted this trio:

Two state of the art Battleships (Mass Production) escorting a 3000 year old Trade Boat (Map Making!)!

After sinking them, my spies reported that the two last austrian Panzers have disapeared (they are no longer a UU and equal to the standard Tank, as Germany switched to Panther and Tiger).

The most effective part of the austrian forces is their airforce. Despite superior aircraft (Hawker Hunter Fighter (7/4), Avro Vulcan Bomber (0/4), F-4 Phantom Fighter (12/6) and Merlin Fighter Bomber (8/6) I have surpring heavy losses to their Me109 Interceptor (4/2), Me110 Fighter (4/1) and even He51 Fighter (2/1). Only their Ju86 Bombers did not return to base once...
