Arab Conquest

Thanks! Me too.

I'll take that as a compliment because they are both amazing writers, but I find that when I am motivated to play and write, that my best content is produced. Don't worry i'll get in an update soon enough.

Take that as you will, I love your writing. I'm not trying to rush you, but I'm just saying. Its been ~3 months since heerlo updated his "into the future" story.

For this update I decided I'll take a different approach to the writing :D

Years of Total War

The Return

His Holiness Majah of Raspur Harun had taken a long break from office to focus on school, re-evaluate his Empire. In his isolation, he decided that he would establish a presence in the Mediterranean by ways of the sea, and thus found wars in the Subcontinent and China irrelevant, and negotiated peace with both of the empires, for a small tribute.
He also decided that many nations of the world would never like the Arab people because of petty squabbles and religious differences, and instead decided to send out mounted scouts into the unknown jungles of Africa and the steppes of Asia, he also decided to sen d caravels to sail the high seas, however was stunted by political borders of the Spaniards. Even when Harun offered packages of Incense for a Treaty of Open Borders, she still wouldn't agree. He sighed and decided they would have to be taken care of later.

Diplomatic Reputation
"Sir!", the scout said as he walked into the Caliph's palace.
"I trust you bring good news?"
"Indeed sir! We have meet men of 2 new nations, the Unified Germanic Tribes, and the Mongol Steppe Horde! Better yet, we have already set up great trades, ensuring steps towards friendship!
However I also bring bad news." he said with grim face. "We have reports of Declarations of War from the Spanish, the Greek, and the Moroccans."
"It's manageable," the Caliph remarked, "Our navy will tear apart any presence of their petty merchants or triremes."
"That isn't all sir.", he said with a dark look on his face. "The Ottomans, our 'friends', did aswell."
The silence in the room was piercing. After a long silence the Caliph stood and said:
"Ready the Calvary. Send the general Auitzol to Baghdad, defend that city at all costs. Send the navy on all Ottoman vessels." He looked out at the docks of Mecca. "Tell all of the peasants and beggars that they will be fed if they work on constructing ships. Also, task all researchers with creating sturdier, more powerful naval vessels."
He stormed out of the palace.

The High Seas

The Captain looked behind him and saw the vast fleet of galleasses and caravels. Then he turned and peered out and saw the enemies navy in the vast, vast distance.
"Mount the Sails!", the captain shouted, and saw his crew frantically run to their stations. "Set course straight ahead!" he turned to the galleasses, "Sail westward, and when caravels engage, flank the enemy!"
As the Captain watched the fleet sail away, he wondered just what he had gotten himself into.

---2 Days later---

"Fire!" the captain screamed, struggling to be heard.
Almost nothing could be seen, with gunpowder and mist combined over the seas of the Mediterranean, and death was unexpected, and all were alert. The captain was confident in his fleet, especially when fighting triremes of the Spanish and Greek.
His thought was interrupted as he saw a spike come in fast like a bolt of lightning, smashing through the mist and powder.
"Brace for impact!"
The ship sent a shockwave through the ship, and more than one crew member fell overboard, into the cold sea, never to be seen again.
Just as the Spanish-Greek fleet thought they might obtain victory yet, they watched in horror as three ships appeared in glory from the misty world beyond. The ships circled around the Spanish-Greek fleet, and, in perfect formation, they fired the primitive triremes to all hell.
Men shrieked in terror as explosions sounded all around them, chunks of wood were blown to pieces, and caught men through their chests. The remainder of men sank into the cold, black water. Any survivors were picked out of the water by the crew.
The Spanish and Greek would never question the Arab's dominance of the sea.

Battle of Baghdad
The Elite guard of the Ottoman empire, the Jannisaries, marched into the outskirts of Baghdad, behind them regiments of pikemen, crossbowmen, and trebuchets. The battle was rough, and the walls of Baghdad were all but destroyed.
The only thing that stood between them and control of the city, was the thousands of arrows that constantly reigned down upon them by Mounted Archers, and Crossbowmen. So many came upon them that men had dove behind the piles of bodies to protect them, often to no avail. Even worse, from the sea beyond their sight, they were constantly bombarded by cannons of the fearsome vessels of the Arabs.

OOC Stuff
So sorry for the break, but I'm back, and will try to update more regularly. The world hates us except for Germany and Mongolia. Also i can build an observatory on MT. Sinai I was beyond excited when I found out. I'm awfully behind in tech, but I just discovered Frigates and Privateers, so I'm not too concerned :)
Anyway have a good one!

Here it is: the big update.

Total War Never Ends...

The Discovery
The group of naval engineers nervously walked into the Caliph's grand palace, glancing at the gleaming armor of the guards who escorted them in.
"Sir.", a guard said as he bowed to the Caliph, "These engineers have requested an audience, they claim they have something of importance."
"Very well, what do wish to say?", the Caliph asked, questioning the head engineer.
"Well sir,", the engineer muttered, sweat trickling down his face.
"You need not worry, you are a welcomed guest in my palace."
"Sorry sir.", the engineer said as he dabbed his face with a handkerchief, "Anyhow, my team and I believe we have perfected a design for a new series of warships. We have to major designs. One is of a close-range ship, its cannons are designed to damage the enemy vessel, however within a reasonable range, so that the crew may attempt to board the enemy vessel.
"Our second design, is of a more mobile ship with 3 decks of cannons. These cannons are larger and have room to maneuver, so that they have a large range. These are designed to be deadly, and their only goal should be to sink. We've named the first Privateers and the second Frigates.", the engineer exhaled after explaining the designs. He was not used to talking for so long, and especially not to such esteemed figures.
"Very good. Hand the blueprints off to our Admiral, Mr. Perry, if he sees no flaws, then production shall start, and you and you team will be generously compensated, any complaints? No? Good."
As the guards led the team out, the Caliph beckoned for a messenger. As he came near the throne he whispered:
"Tell the Admiral to immediately start recruitment of new sailors, tell him to scour all of the Holy Land. Thank you", the Caliph stared as he watched the messenger leave. He smiled.

The Tides Turn
Production of these new vessels had begun faster than Matthew Perry could even begin to understand them. But their they were. Firing volley after volley into the city of Edirne. The Admiral had to admire these new vessels, they were quite destructive. The petty fleet that the Spanish and Greek sent to intercept Perry's fleet was, after a quick engagement, sent to the bottom of the Mediterranean.
Of course, these ships weren't invincible, more than one ship had been destroyed by volley's from the city's garrison, but no complete fleet had been sunk.
"Fire!", Perry barked. Almost immediately he could heard the deafening sound of hundreds of cannons being fired. This volley sent debris of walls and guard towers flying, some destroying other buildings, while others promptly fell into the sea. The city was almost defenseless.
"Assault!", Perry screamed over the sound of screams from the city, and the shanties of the crew. As the fleet processed the order, the privateer's sails went into action, and it was sent on course towards the city. Upon reaching firing distance, cannons were fired. Shortly thereafter, the crew entered the city and raised an Arabian Flag. The city was theirs. It may have been the first, but it would certainly not be the last of cities to fall to the Arabian navy, for the fleet soon set course towards Athens:)deadhorse: take that Alex!) and Istanbul, which both cooperatively joined the Arabian empire(distant noise of the Caliph maniacally laughing in the distance).

Blocs
It was during the 1800s that ideologies started being adopted. The big three ideologies were Freedom, Communism, and Fascism. Upon hearing that 2 nations, including Japan adopted Fascist policies, and 3 nations, including Rom, adopted Communist regimes, the Caliph was disgusted.
"Do leaders of those nations truly think that their people are happy with no Freedom? If so, then they are even more arrogant and ignorant than I thought previously. I mean, wanting equality is one thing, but wanting everyone to be the same, suffering and starving, is quite another.", the Caliph thought to himself. But when he heard that Russia adopted Freedom, some hope was restored in him. Perhaps friendly relations was possible after all.

The Spanish Landing and "Armada"
As the Spanish war raged on, they attempted multiple naval engagements, and many landings in hope of taking Memphis or perhaps Thebes.
Their "armada" was a collection of ships that attempted to emulate the Arab Fleet. The engagements were all one-sided, in favor of the Arabs, of course. For their sailors were not skilled, and their ships were made of cheap wood, and their cannons were slow of reloading, and had no room to maneuver.
The landings, however, were more difficult to deal with. 2 Camel Archer regiments and a regiment of Lancers were sent to deal with the Spanish Conquistadors, Tericos, and Cannons. For the most part, the Camel Archers could fairly deal with the Tericos, while the Lancers slammed the Conquistadors, killing their horses and swiftly dealing with the remaining riders. While the Tericos began their slow march towards the Lancers, every heartbeat they were furiously assaulted by arrows, their wounded and dead being lost in the harsh desert.

The Triple Entente
Though most nations on the planet hated the Arabs, their where 2 nations, the Germans and the Swedish, who loved the Arabs. they both had Declarations of Friendship with the Arab people, and both had invested in research with them. Great things would come of this, the Caliph was certain. His hope was that Scandinavia would belong to Sweden, Continental Europe belong to Germany, and the Mediterranean under firm Arab control. Perhaps one day this goal would be accomplished...

OCC:
:woohoo: I can't believe I pulled off ending Greece and the Ottomans. This is awesome. If we manage to keep the Triple Entente and get Russia on good terms, it could be smooth(ish) sailing until we all have equal tech, then the fighting will really kick off...anyways guys I hope you enjoyed and see ya in the next update!

Abbasid Caliphate: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e1/Abbasids850.png

you haven't expanded as far in to Asia as they did yet, but that map is pretty similar. Nice work! Also, nice write up!

Freedom does seem to be a relatively bad ideology for you based on the way your writeups have been though. Did you do it for rp reasons, or because of another reason?

Thank you! My map is getting remarkably similar, which is a good sign. Also, part of it is RP but there are gonna be some key policies like treaty organization, avant garde, and the specialist related policies, and especially New Deal will be awesome because I'm currently faith spamming GS and planting them in Damascus, so New Deal will be amazing, but the big thing is Freedom is awesome irl.
:worship:

I was going for something more like this:
Spoiler :

But even if I achieve that I might still play, I'm not exactly sure what I want with this series.

Good write-up! Game seems to be going well for you.
Under these circumstances you can probably afford to go Freedom (those Academies are going to be ridiculously powerful!), but on the whole if you're going wide you probably should go Order, if only for Socialist Realism (by the way, not all of us who follow or sort of follow the Order ideology in real life are commies. Still, I think we can all agree Facism sucks.)

Oh, lol. You be going for the Umayyad Caliphate borders. That seems like a good goal. When you said "everything the Islamic Empire conquered" I was thinking something like the attached map, basically all the colored part + Indonesia/Malaysia/South Philippines and a little further into China on the Central Asian side. Your goal seems a lot more reasonable tho. I was wondering how you was gon pull it off, seeing as you'd have had to fight the Zulus for all of that African territory (You still will DoW shaka to get Yemen, tho, I assume?).

Nice going wit the conquests tho, bro :spear:. Are you planning on settling Persia, or letting Russia settle it for you and then taking over?;;; *hint hint* settle quickly if you want to complete your goal while maintaining relations wit Russia.

EDIT: Also, from the minimap, is that Spain settling the West African coast, and Japan settling Indonesia? Seems like there be lots of expansionists in your game.

dat update....

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay but I've been sick lately and have been busy with theatre stuff, so I haven't really had the time nor been motivated to play...or write for that matter. I should manage an update soon. Also thanks for all the kind words! Oh I've also been wondering, if I get all the territory I set out to conquer, would you guys still be interested in reading?
Also Pydgie, that is a big map, I'm not sure that's gonna happen...

Oh, yes I totally agree that that map is humongous and impractical. I was just mentioning it. You're Umayyad goal is much more practical and achievable. But if you manage to pull off the map I posted, then that's a feat!

Also, No problem, bro, don't be rushed. And I'll definitely stay with you after you complete you conquests ;)

I'll keep reading this even after you finish your conquests, don't worry!
