Hyperthreading. On or Off for CIV5?

Has anybody tried on and off, what were the results?

If it is a quad core then off might be the better option

My new PC is a i7 950 which is Quad, so looks like its off then.

Thanks for your input, anybody else?

thanks to your thread I switched 4 cores off (in the msconfig file) and ... well it "feels" faster, but maybe that's because I started a new game. Although I don't know if now I have 2 cores with hyperthreading or 4 cores without.

Older thread, but worth it to bump I guess.

I have a core i7 940 (4 cores + 4 from hyperthreading) and although I haven't set anything on or off, Civ5 seems to only tax about 13% to max 25% of my cpu. Even during turn changes, which take quite a while and I assume are pure load on the cpu.

Is this a common phenomenon or should I start tweaking with cores and hyperthreading to optimize Civ's usage?
