Bah!... Easy for me to say ... I can certainly understand why that was decided... These long games inevitably end up here at some point.I support a draw
Not so fast (see my post in the general thread )I guess this is over now. I've been out of town for a couple weeks so I just saw this.
Good game everyone. It was a fun journey. I am very happy to have been a part of this team. It's been nice getting to know you guys. We had some great times over the past couple years. I wish I could have stayed more involved at the end, but life got in the way of that.
It's good that the game ended before 2015, but slightly disappointing for it to go out with such a whimper and no satisfying conclusion.
Special thanks to 2metra and Sommers for organizing this, and Caledorn for admining.
Whoever has the power should unlock this thread (if it is still locked) so the other teams can come in and marvel at the awesomeness that was Team CFC!

civforum.de has also opened it's (shorter than yours) ISDG2 sub forum but unluckily for you, the forum is encoded in german as well.
Interesting foreign policy thread by the way.
Greetings

2metra and I were discussing how the game went over at RB and one of the RB players got angry at the discussion and intentionally tried to get the thread closed. Apparently, given the last comment in the thread, he has used this same tactic successfully in the past to get threads closed.I think it is ironic (and telling) that after our posts one of the RB guys did the equivalent of throwing a tantrum and knocking the chessboard off the table (by posting text of a novel instead of contributing to the discussion). Obviously he intends to get the thread closed. Then another RB guy comes on and declares that the discussion is over and begs the Mods to close the thread. Then Mod promptly closes the thread, ensuring that no one else will read it.2metraninja said:Sommerswerd said:Hey buddy!
I am just leaving work but I wanted to at least say Hi I caught you on the RB forum!!!
Like old times eh?
Heheh! Yeah, man, I missed you.
A funny part of that discussion was RB guys kept saying they wanted the game to be "fair" meaning that their way of playing is the only fair way to play and "our" way is unfair...
But I openly admitted to them that I felt their players were good, even better than most everyone else and so I thought it would be foolish for everyone to play their way, as it gave them an advantage, when they already had an advantage because of being great players.
So the argument then, is what they wanted (possibly subconsciously) was an unfair fight. They wanted the settings that they were accustomed to, that would basically ensure them the easy victory, and that is what they considered "fair" ie, that they win easily. Whereas what I wanted was something that would help to take them out of their comfort zone, making the game more "fair." Obviously then, the argument can be made that either setting was the "fair" one. Generally, you can always argue that what YOU want is what is truly "fair", no matter what you want.
But I, (unlike some of their guys, apparently) realized the trap in this thinking. There is no "fair." There is only what I want, versus what opponent wants. Neither is fair and it is pure vanity to presume that what you want is the "fair" thing. That is why I never tried to make the argument that "my" settings were the truly "fair" ones... Its an illusory, somewhat delusional argument.
Anyway, see you on CFC... maybe we can continue the discussion there without the board getting flipped
