Just wondering what everyone's initial build is? This might end up being kind of a ridiculous question as it could be dependent on a Civ, but generally speaking . .

This is a 2 Food, 2 Hammer, 2 Trade; city which is my minimum criteria for initial placement.

3 Warriors produced using both Production tiles. Sometimes only 2 if I feel that I will get my 100 Gold Settler quickly. Ie a hut shows me 7 Cities, then it is get the Galley asap.

Bronze Working, using both Trade squares.

2 Archers using both Production.

After this I am totally flexible, as there are simply to many variables that can't be accounted for. Just wondering what / if anyone else has a written in stone plan? Or are you flexible even early than this?

Doing this you are not flexible. You just play like the ai, just a little better and everyone would kill you as you said, building more cities. It depends on the civilization..What do you use?

I go random.

As for a slightly better player beating me I have to disagree. Unless the Zulu and or Aztec start very close to me I am good. We all know the cheeziness of those 2 Civ's anyway. If I am playing Zulu or Aztec I just slow down a little with the early exploration.
