[MoM] Masters of Madness

gogogo Aline, I'll follow once you're done :)

a suggestion: I'd build an academy with the great sage in our capital since it's producing a crapton of research, and build a sage district there instead of a noble district since we don't really NEED a noble district there.

argh, she's right. turn 182... oh well I guess we'll go on from there then.

Aline, mind if I take this ? I have different plans than esvath's ;)

roger that
Also mind that you can finish the catacomb in one turn with some stone if you whant to.
Oh and keep an eye on those lunatics, i couldent save them in the few tuns i played.

Gah, sorry guys, the correct save would be turn 189, in auto save. It won't be too different with the 182, but here it is.

Btw, I can't play for the next 6 hours, so feel free to skip my turn :)

Yeah, i gotta say this is quite fun :D

I was wondering about something, I had not noticed the 100% escape rate of Loki immediately.
Is there a way to kill Loki other than magic?
Otherwise it just looks like he can flee everytime.

Yeah if Loki has no place to flee to he dies, in fact i think we should provoke that situation at some point to get the shrine of the champion, he gets useless lategame anyways.

Well. I knew Perpentach was powerful, but I didn't know TIME TRAVELLING was his expertise.

And yet here we are, seven years before.

I notice the great sage the Undercouncil kindly gifted us with had been standing there doing nothing for several years. I order him to build an academy in Jubilee, this should allow us to research new toys to play with faster. To further benefit from this, we're going to also build a sage district to specialize our capital.

Some turns later we start our plans to start bringing slaves to our carnivals...

Thanx to slaves we get human cages in 2 of our cities. We'll need more freaks to build MOAR freak shows in our cities!

And our brave explores in the southern continent capture some lions for our carnivals.

A great bard is born, and his glorious songs inspire the Balseraph people during this golden age.

Also we build some stables so that we may harass our pathetically benign neighbours with skirmisher cavalry troops...

We train some zealots to spread the hallucinating dreams of the octopus overlords to more of our cities, we add corn and crabs to our diet, and we train some workers to improve our lands :D

Some kidnappers demand a ransom for a kid, who cares we're rich :scan:

And we equip our hero Nosamonce with a fine silver sword so that he might better slash our enemies to bits :scan:

We also master evocation magic to better burn Ethne's archers to a crisp later on, and build horsemen to pour salt over the charred remains :scan:

With arcane power researched, we send our adepts to the water node to benefit from the power within. Also one of our hunters finds a powerful artifact in a goblin lair, a lance glowing with a chilling magic...

Next on we research drama, so that we may bask in our cultured crooked carnival ( and also benefit from the dyes we're harvesting of course :D )

And we start building a Merchant District in Hexam, this will give us MOAR resources and allow us to safely expand to the south while we're ready to invade those goody two shoes Elohim.

Another one in Coombe View should probably go up soon, that will also give us lots of resources.

A great merchant is born, he'll give an excellent influx of gold in Coombe View while we get another mechant district built there. But first we build some settlers since our economy is more than strong enough to expand south.

Also we have captured a wolf , I'm sure some kid will have fun staring him into the eye behind some bars.

Some cultists are trained, they will increase our people's faith in the overlords and allow us to channel their powers.

As our elite hunters slaughter a mighty werewolf in the wilderness, we finish researching Drama and our Water Node is done. Let's see what enchantments our mages will be able to come up with now :crazyeye:

Sadly our golden age ends, but I'm sure the latest advancements will see us rise to new heights.

Notes for the next player:

1) Ententairment tech is a placeholder, feel free to do as you wish here ;)

2) there's a settler+worker+hunter party 2W of Gaudium ready to do some settling, just wait 1 turn for one more hunter escort to reach him :p

3) there's a galleon about to reach argenteria, please load those 2 hunters+horsemen and go kill that scary griffon, I had to have our workers run away so they wouldn't get eaten ( city can build 2 more improvements )

4) Loki can also get killed when he's inside a city, remember ;)

5) sorry esvath had already started playing long before you posted turn 189 :(

Nice nice :D

We reached turn 200. As the game progresses turns will take more and more time and more stuff will happen.

Maybe we should shift to 15 turn rounds instead of 20? Its the first time i play a SG, how's it done usually?

I say we just keep it flexible and let the players decide ( we've been very flexible so far and it worked nicely :D ) ... between 20 and 15 seems reasonable ;)

hehe, well, Aline is probably in the Same situation so i guess she will not play tonight.
Unless I play now, which i would feel a little cheap about since Aline has not played yet this round, i will not be able to play for next 24 hours. Its 7 pm here :p .

Nice, our economy expanded nicely. Apparently, we have this island only with the Elohim. When will we go to war and conquer this island? Too much waiting might result in dangerous foe in the other islands/continent.

No problem. Noble District/Warrior in capital is my habit; It would be interesting to see how Sage District in capital will be doing.

Btw where are you guys living?
From the time you post and the time in the screenies i would say western Europe. That would make me the exception in the team :p ( Quebec )

Me in Indonesia ;p

EDIT : I also can't play for the next 6 hours (it's morning in here), so lets wait for Aline.

Well, I was mixed up, I thought Aline was the last to not have played in the third round but i did not play either.
In other words, I guess Ill play now, If anyone opposes, manifest yourself now, Ill play in about 30 min.

This is how it all started, with the discovery that the Balseraph are actually NOT the richest nation on Erebus!!

"WHAT A SHAME!!" Exclaimed Perpentach.

"But then... What are riches worth when you do not spend them!? "

Perpentach thought about it for a moment.

"LET'S SPEND ALL THIS USELESS GOLD!!"

Perpentach started to dance while pelting the court advisors with coins, of course everyone fled.

Spoiler :

Then this happened... I guess it was to be expected!

Spoiler :

Ninja Archers FTW!
Spoiler :

MOAR COPPER!!
Spoiler :

Perpentach, as the good leader that he is, ordered his trusty hunters to kill some wild and enraged flying beasts. This allowed the nearby population to feel much better and safe.
Spoiler :

The city of Guell was founded, but the economic prospects are still way too good, more cities would need to be created to lower this offensive positive budget.
Spoiler :

Advancements in the domain of construction allowed a production boost in the empire's workshops.
Spoiler :

Perpentach could not help but notice that most of his land was surrounded by sea, this realisation influenced his research priorities.
Spoiler :

All those inventions made Perpentach feel creative. This was definitely a good time to spend on expansion projects!
Spoiler :

Some pachyderms are still in the way, Of course they need to die. Our hero hunter once again used his 'second chance' . The badly battered elephant was then prime target to level up our Nightwatch ninja archers.
Spoiler :

Perpentach was very happy to learn that from now on, ocean faring boats would be only one click away.
Spoiler :

Perpentach decided that the landmass at the east needed to be colonized so he sent a part of his army there to destroy the offensive mercenary fort that polluted the local landscape. Seriously, what good are mercenaries that you cannot even hire?
But then who would want to hire mercenaries stupid enough to be lured out of their forts by mere animated puppets ...
Spoiler :

On the vast seas not all things are hostile, some things are more akin to a tourist on a fishing boat trip, like as this fellow here.
Spoiler :

Perpentach decided that this fellow was likely to have seen a good part of the world and decided to try to trade map with him. It did cost some money but such a freakin tourist ought to have an interesting part of landscape written down on paper. The result was quite interesting.

Spoiler :

Perpentach had not forgotten his worst enemy for so much. He even decided to study the faith of his enemy in order to understand them better. The fellowship of the leave was a laughable concept but their worshipers were none the less a very clean bunch. Perpentach figured that building them a temple in Jubilee would improve public sanitation. Of course the vile lady Ethne, upon, learning this took her chance at trying to impose us her faith. I wish i could slap her.

Spoiler :

We build a lion cage in Hexam.
Spoiler :

Perpentach learns about writing. He can finally put all this poetry on paper.
Spoiler :

The destruction of the local mercenary camp ended up being a somewhat costly business, two veteran hunters and one parrot perished when those crazed mercenaries made a mass sortie. Then one tsunami was used ( I really had to try the thing :D ) and the other troops mopped the survivors.
In the end it did clear the place and provided some substantial XP to other troops.

Spoiler :

Then this.
Spoiler :

Then Ocella Is founded, the westernmost city.
Spoiler :

Hammurabi would be proud.
Spoiler :

Then the city of Vincon is founded, the easternmost settlement of the empire.
What a relief!! The budget is finally in the red!! We are finally using this useless gold!
It was hard but we did it!
Now all the fun will be about putting it back into the green! :p

Spoiler :

We meet more buddies.
Spoiler :

And discover philosophy.
Spoiler :

And vote for the creation of a gambling ring.
Spoiler :

Oh and before i forget, I went a little creative here and made a sea explorer Hero. :mischief:

Behold, the Aquatic hunter!!
Spoiler :

Yes, I gave one of our hunter some armor, weapon + water walking amulet and set him to walk the high sea with his pet Parrot. Lets have him not die and explore the whole oceans, that would be way cool!

And there is some lousy gryphon nearby that could go with him, ... maybe.

Edit: Yeah, and i did send some freaks and zealots to the new cities, I wish we could attack Lady Ethne soon enough but i did not feel at ease with our capped army constituted of mostly hunters, I built two barracks which helped and trained a couple more horsemen. I started building a temple of the leave in Jubilee. My idea here is that the +2 health would allow to switch away from Shamanism to Warrior caste without having the capital fall into starvation.

Furthermore, we can spread fellowship of the leave around for more faith!!

:goodjob: nice try to make our surplus into deficit!

btw, do we meet some incense? if yes, we should prioritize the city as an Oracle and Temple District. We have terribly low faith income, we should hoard much faith to spend on tsunamis.

Dang, double post. Bad internet connection! Bad connection! >:

Okay, we should make a list of conditions/objectives before launching our war. We have to take into consideration that Ethne has Sanctuary (she hasn't casted her world spell, right?), so our war would be 30 turns minimum.

  • Raising military cap until 40?
  • Building health in each cities so we can switch to Warrior Caste? (Too bad we can not learn Harmony enchantments, we have plenty of health resources)
  • Does Nightwatch still ignore building defense? If yes, more Nightwatch would be great to kill Ethne's archers.

lol, glad to see you're enjoying the "lure em with puppets" tactic MaxWar :D

how strong are sea serpents? also remember that deep ocean tiles damage units passing through, don't get that waterwalking hunter killed please :D

also hopefully our economy doesn't crush and burn, remember that some buildings cost maintenance ;)
