ok... but internet is something dumb on middle-low difficult... and it is something "wonderlike".... but the mausoleum is so awesome.... it could be even better than the taj!

It's dumb if you're playing below your own level.

But if you do this, it doesn't seem like you're playing for efficiency, anyway.

I don't understand why i wouldn't play for efficiency :shifty:

I said ON MIDDLE LOW DIFFICULT, it means that if you play too easy, internet is useless. I didn't say i play low difficult :shifty:

BTW I rarely build internet, my game tend to finish before i can get it and even if i reach internet i'm usually the tech lead. If i can't be the tech lead at that moment i usually quitted eons before.

It's better than the 3 votes for something which isn't even a wonder.

I voted for Internet because it was on the list and I can't imagine why I would ever build it. But if we are being strict on the wonder thing I'd like to retract my vote and put it on Space Elevator instead. I think I built it in my first game on warlord difficulty then later thought "What was the point in that??". It slowed down my space race, I could tell that even in my first ever game. But thats me though, I'm not an experienced player at all so maybe it could be used in some situations.

Power score? You might want to check the values in the demographics article in the war academy.

CI has a value of 8000, a single axeman has 6000.... :lol:
Defense buddy, applied to every city...
Not just the one building.
Anyhow, all I am saying is it isn't the worst.

@azzaman333
I guess if you have no religion, free religion can get you a nice science boost. Never really thought of it that way... I will still not build it though.

I voted Taj. I don't really like Golden Ages since they only last for 8 turns, and when they're over, you're dissapointed and stuff. It gives you other stuff, too, like culture and Great Artist points, but hey, so does Notre Dame, and that's for 150 less hammers! Besides, you can always get a golden age from a Great Person.

Taj Mahal typical pays itself back and then some within the duration of the golden age itself. If you have marble and no other production modifiers, it's 350 hammers. Even if you are only working 50 hammer tiles nationwide, it pays itself back in hammers (and gives a ton of commerce + allows civic swaps w/o burning a GP) before the gold age ends. Usually you have a forge though. Often OR or bureaucracy on top of it.

Only some of the wonders on the list can pay back + give a solid return in < 8 turns (normal speed). Taj is on the higher end of the list here as with marble it is a very powerful boost for its cost.

Yeah, I agree that GAs are fun while they last, but at the end of that Taj GA, you got not more benefits than a regular GP GA.

Around the time I build Taj, I usually am getting some useless Great Prophets, because I wanted them some turns ago for the shrines from the religions I usually found, but now I've founded all the shrines, so I can only really make them either help bulb Divine Right (waste), make one a superspecialist (not a waste but not ideal either), or make him start a GA.

I would rather build the cheaper and better Notre Dame (who says I don't have stone, that'd be only 225 hammers without a forge or anything), and make a GA with a Prophet if I really wanted one.

I don't deny Notre Dame is good on maps where most of your cities are on 1 continent, but the AI LOVES engineering...nationalism it's a little slower to reach. On high levels it's much more difficult to get ND.

But yes, resources largely dictate these and many other wonders. BTW, even though the effect is short, I think you are underestimating the potential of an extra golden age in a game.

But why would you tech robotics?

Don't be silly. I always go for Computers, to build the other USELESS WONDER (*caugh *caugh & lols at this thread). From there it's one tech away to learn Robotics.

Besides the SE, it lets me upgrade/build Mechanized Infantry, Missile Cruisers, and later Stealth Destroyers with Stealth Bombers.

You're also one tech away from advanced flight/stealth/whatever. That doesn't make it faster. I'm saying that evidence is very strong that merely the turns it takes to to research robotics slows you down more than SE gains, and I've put some extensive math + a game example I played recently. I'd be interested to see how SE comes ahead.

The military power is nice, but you can generally have nukes then, which is enough for most purposes. You also have modern armor + strong naval units w/o robotics.

The Taj also appears when you have some great new civics to consider. It's a good wonder for non-spiritual civilizations in the midgame.

Chichen Itza, rubbish, only useful if you plan on getting INVADED.

I voted on Angkor Wat before reading Chichen Itza : /

1. Shwedagon Paya - What civic do you even get from this? Pacifism a few turns earlier? Free Religion an era early? Come on.
2. Temple of Kulkulkan (Located at Chichen Itza) - Only really useful if your building Castles, which only Spain and weird protective guys use.
3. Space Elevator- Never gotten a chance to build it
4. Hagia Sophia- Could be decent, if you take it from an AI you've pillaged to the end of the earth, but don't build it.

@r_rolo
I lol'ed at seeing Archery and Horseback riding on that list. I'm guessing that was an isolated game where you could make do with only melee units?
Internet is great at the higher levels where you actually are behind the AI in tech, on the low levels most people will have won by now or are gunning to be the first with Modern Armor.
