Great Merchant Trade Missions

Question regarding Great Merchant Trade missions. Does the amount of influence or gold change based on distance of the city-state to your capital. How about if you already conducted a trade mission to the same city-state in the past?

I think it is the same, no matter what.

It's the same. The only thing that affects the value of the trade mission is what era you are in (it increases in value the later in the game you are). There's also a policy in Commerce that doubles the value of trade missions.
