SGOTM 15 - Xteam

Are you guys OK with:
Research: Sailing at 0% ?
Bulbing Machinery and leaving the GPro for now?
Building cats as fast as possible for the next 4-6 turns?
Staying in PS and next turn switch from OR to Paganism for 5 turns for the lower upkeep?
:yup:

Do we need to institute some kind of count that we record in our logs so that we know when AP votes are upcoming? :hmm:

Going to need to do naked hakas in the surf at sundown on the night of the full moon for this one. (pun intended...)
Hope it is a bit foggy too, perhaps with a wolf howling in the background. :mischief:

Go ahead Z.

Agree with leif that we need to keep track of elections and votes in the vic screen.

AP votes can be tracked in the game. Look under the resolution tab under VC screen.

The best time for us to take a buddhist city is to just before the AP resident vote.....or actually immideately after the last AP resolution vote before the next AP resident vote. That should give us 7-8 turns to convert Toku to Aethiesm.

Does this say when the last vote was and when the next one is coming?

Exactly why I was thinking we need a countdown. :)

I'm with MP, wish I had a clue about this one. Just need to keep the discussion up and pick through for the best ideas.

Did a quick beach haka this morning, but too many people around to sacrifice anything. :mischief:

Played 4 turns, nothing much happened.

We're about ready to DOW.

Now it's the warmongers turn to tell us how we're going to do this. :mischief:

Turnlog:

T104
Chop forest at Pat and Varanasi, move axes to hill SE of Bombay
Bulb most of Machinery, now at +7gpt at 0%

IBT Hammu founded Opis 2S of the wheat.

T105
First cat is rolling.
Switch to Paganism saving 2gpt.
Workers go chop the forest NW of Pat before it goes under Babylonian control.

T106
Worker actions and moving cats

T107
Traded one of our Deer to Hammu for 2gpt.

IBT We lost the corn at Bombay.

Too bad we just lost the corn, increasing the risk of a counter attack.
I would put half of our stack including all cats onto the forest SW of Osaka this turn or the next. Then we'll have 3 (or 4) cats bombarding and more coming soon.
Toku did put one or two units on the forest from time to time.

I played 8 turns and could hand it over, but I would like to take Osake first. :D

I am good with you taking the City.

I would leave at least 5+2 axes (potential number of counter units +2 from toku) on that hill and land the rest on tha forest. That way the survivors will not defend twice on the hill and the forest will have plenty of redundancy.

You should also take kaga. Cat and 3 axes will be fine.

Switch to Paganism saving 2gpt.
Woooo, did we loose religion? No right? just no religious civic, right?

Keep up the good work z3.

Is there any reason not to trade Math to Hammer for 30 Gold?

Question why we would want Kago? No resources, just maintenance?
Unless you wish to convert it to Hindu and give it back?
Seems we should head directly for the capital?

We seem to be doing a lot of farming, do we need any cottages?

Good military build up, Z. Think the library is premature, given that there is a barracks in VJ. Don't think we'll want to run specialists until we have a few more axes and another cat for Pat.

Suggest workers 1 and 4 be sent to road Pat for defence. That means roading the deer and defending it with axes (leaving the spear as a lookout), roading the grass tile north of the city as well as the grass hill west of the city (and defending with an axe). If we don't do that, then we could end up counter-attacking over a river. Cat 6 should be left in the west.

Roading chopping and mining are all more critical than farming now, and do agree with leif that some cottaging takes precedence over farming as well.

Should not attack this turn because we don't have enough cats to take down culture and attack leading with cats in two subsequent turns. This will require four cats to move onto forest and at least two more the next turn while the four bombard. Next turn, three bombard and three lead the attack, or something like that. If the cat moves toward Osaka rather than Kag, then perhaps we should attack next turn; otherwise, waiting for more cats to be built should be considered. Agree with Htadus that we should leave as many forces as possible on the hill until the turn before we attack (not bombard) Osaka.

Eliminating the Japanese cat should be a high priority, if it is vulnerable -- a job for axes, even if one is sacrificed.

If we want Kaga for AP purposes, see no reason why we can't take it later on with units not yet built, allowing present units to move forward.

BTW, the red tile 3N of osaka suggests a good deal of culture in that city. I see no culture buildings. Am I missing something?

Don't understand, Htadus.

The culture of bombay only expanded to 3 tiles from the city center. So the red tile we see 2N 3E of Bombay naturally belong to the Japanese city to NE; within its 9 tile inner ring. So it is very likely that city is placed on tile 3N 3E or 3N 2E.

Seems to indicate another city to the north, but with the mountains, don't see how it is possible? A city on the other side of the mountains? :dunno:

Seems to be all mountains up there, no?

Agree. The library is in the building queue from earlier, maybe I should take it of :crazyeye:, didn't put any hammers into it this turn. ;)

Good points here. :goodjob:

There's a mountain range going N-S 3 East of Osaka, probably with a choke point down south, so Toku must have cities behind those mountains, put the culture pattern up north does look a little strange...

You're thinking of improving our relationship!? I'm not sure, it will lead him closer to cats!?

EDIT: Just noticed that Toku's number of votes has gone up from 6 to 14 in 4 turns (T104-T108), so Buddhism must have spread to one more of his cities, this is getting spicy. :mischief:
Over all the number of votes more than doubled in those 4 turns.
Spoiler :

Well, that might be a nice side benefit. :mischief:

Thinking we could use the 30 Gold? We are attacking east and by the time we get to him, he will have both Math and Construction in my book. Could also wait to see if he has any more Gold in future? At what point might it be "worth it"?

Don't think it's worth it for just 30 gold, even though he might trade for it any turn.

I agree. Lets not speed the mil advantage of someone we are going after. Our economy will be fine once the cities start to fall and we loose units.

On the otherhand, I disagree with the notion of not building a lib and runing 2 scientists or 1 for that matter in the capital.
