News: COTM90 Pre-Game Discussion; Saves Available!

COTM 90: Japan!

Image

Well, I better be able to get at least ONE game out a month! So here is the next COTM, #90, with Japan as the civ. Since we've run a couple of higher level games, I have reduced this game all the way down to Warlord. The map settings provide a lot of terrain, but it isn't necessarily the best (cool and more mountains/hills). There are 8 AI to contend with, but at Warlord, could there be any difficulties? Good Luck!

The saves are available >>here<< right now, May. 2nd. You have 1 1/2 months to finish this one.

Civilization: Japan
Rivals: 8
Barbarians: Restless
Difficulty: Warlord
Land Form: Continents, 60% ocean, Standard map.
Geology:3 billion years old, Normal and Cool.
AI Aggression: Normal

Conquest-Class Bonuses:
  1. Free Pottery
    1 bonus Curragh
    100 Free Gold

Open-Class Bonuses
Nothing!

Predator-Class Obstacles:
  1. Do not have Ceremonial Burial
    Your Galleys cost 35 shields
AI get 1 offensive Unit, 1 defensive Unit and 4 bonus unit support

Yeah. Figured I'd have enough time to finish this while waiting for the next Civ4 BotM.

I'm in. Ran out of time on the Deity COTM89, but Warlord should be doable...
Though this looks like a Robinson Cruesoe start doesn't it? Coast visible in three directions...

I've started, although I'm not sure I'll finish. Lots of things to do at work and Warlord is relatively uninspiring.

I also started this one, I find the start position challenging ... especially for a 20k

I'm playing this one quite heavily, the start position is very challenging makes warlord much more interesting.

I'm probably going to go for this one. As per usual, probably aim for a UN victory. It is hard to stick with a warlord game to the launch date. We'll see. I'm not fond of small island starts, though. I'm having flashbacks to GOTM102. Joan was so mean to me! Whimper, whimper . . .

I'll play this one after I've finished GOTM120.

Time to get this one started...based on the game level and the bonus/handicaps, I'm betting on a 'Gilligan' start...might even be a small island with limited resources/luxuries...decisions, decisions...100K, Space Race or Histographic...don't feel like running this one to 2050, so I'll start going to fast research & adding culture and see which one makes the most sense about 1000 BC.

Is it possible that it is only a freshwater lake to the SE? There is land on eitehr side but my fog-gazing is pretty bad.

I don't think it possible to fog-gaze this information. One must be able to click on the tile and check its stats, i.e. it must be out of the fog first.
