End of Empires - N3S III

How long are the turns going to be? I'll work with whatever stats you choose. Will you have a format for orders?

Orders however you like them. Turns of fifty years. Stats in a little bit.

EDIT: Okay, I lied. Stats will not come in a little bit. I don't know why I can't focus on them, but they didn't get done. We'll see what we get done tomorrow.

Is it just me or there less stories from people this time?

Obviously there is a part where people actually have to write (and whatever comes before that) before they post. Also "this time" is not yet over until the next update is posted.

Janian Philosophy
At the newly renamed city of Hanid, merchant traders spread elsewhere. Due to luck and various random factors, however, the city would have a suprising outgrowth of philosophy for a short time.

The first chain were the Libertids, who gave the others a bad name. But this was not because they were bad as such, but because they were assosiated with heretical Majinoid ideas, and semi-foriegn influences. The reason was that they combined nationalism for Jania (as opposed to Arkage, as was the common practice) and some Farou influences to believe that slavery was wrong. Government policy was pro-slavery, so the Libertids were enemies of the government.

Next were the Anhids, who advocated radical pro-Janian doctrine, and could potentially have been favored. But after a short time hijacking Trului merchant ships and protesting against trade with "non-humans", they lost this support. They argued that all non-Arkage were also non-humans, using parts of the religion (iroinically, partly from Seshweay influence) to justify this doctrine, along with relevations from a mad prophet.

The closest to true philosophers were the Donhids, who created the Donhid doctrine- that the best way to learn about something was to study it directly. This doctrine was quite empirical, and was combined with the doctrine that knowledge about something allowed one to have some degree of power over it. The Donhids believed that slavery had no basis, but were wise enough to keep their heads down. Unfourtunately, none earned government favor.

The Seshids and Arkagids were mortal enemies, who further blackened philosophy's name by having a reputation for fighting each other after dark. One argued for a pure Seshweay religion, the other for a pure Arkage religion. The Seshids (who, ironically, believed they were not human) were by far the smaller, but had a very skilled general AND developed better ability to tell friend from foe. Ultimately, neither won.

The downfall of these groups was in the reign of Chatrid I. In response to an alliance of Seshids, Arkageids, and Anhids (they all figured their causes were doomed unless they set up independent states) attempted to steal the whole Janian navy, Chatrid outlawed all philosophy.

Only minor remnants of each group survived, and what was worthwhile in them was lost due to synthesis as they fled to Akalm, merely becoming influences on the Majinoid sects...

I will be a bit detailed, so consider this a semi-story.

Hu'ut Empire
is pronounced Hu'ut Amperi in Hu'ut.

Trilui Empire
is pronounced Trimluvbi Amperi in Hu'ut.

Farou
is pronounced Parago in Hu'ut.

Had River
Hu'ut name for the river: Hadeb'jjat
Trade is the major basis on the river economy - it is simply practical for transporting goods. Nevertheless, it is also crucial for farming and irrigation in the Hu'ut Empire that the river is flowing.

Hu'ut Coast and Sea
The Hu'ut name for the dark blue area is Miamnbvenok Abavar, or Sea of Sailors. The Hu'ut are currently happily fishing and dominating the area, although are still letting Trilui ships travelling freely through it. Most of the Third Palmyran-Hu'ut war was fought on the sea, and it was in southern Abavar where the naval skirmishes found their place.

Red Area (very poor)
City name: E'palmyra Ix
Region name: 'ovair Mut Epalmyria
The nation of Palmyra was annexed by the Hu'ut during the Second Palmyran-Hu'ut war. During the Third Palmyran-Hu'ut war, the Palmyrans revolted, and established a new capital in Old Eastern Palmyra. Due to this action, the Hu'ut attempted to press down the revolt, but the Palmyrans were too strong (With especially an effecient navy they saw some victories against the superior Hu'ut empire, even though they did not manage to push the Empire back to her capital), and peace was signed, leaving Hu'vestbaktbas and West Palmyra to the Hu'ut and East Palmyra liberated. The economy of 'ovair Mut Epalmyria is quite weak and has problems sustaining itself. The population has sufficient food, but goods are not very plentiful and trade is almost not present, making it a tough time for people to make the day. The only effecient trading system that is present is the transportation of Palmyran slaves by Palmyran merchants towards main Hu'ut. Other merchants simply migrate to Trilui or Hiuttubupulosolamanos.

Light Green Area (somehow well-off)
Region name: 'uve Magicr Epalmyr Hu'vestbaktbas (Southern Palmyrian Hu'vestbaktbas)
The ethymology for the Palmyrian areas was based on the ancient conquest of them by the Palmyrians. The small areas occupied from the Hu'ut by the Palmyrians were referred to as Epalmyr Hu'vestbaktbas between the Hu'ut nobles - Hu'vestbaktbas being the original name of the nation, the Epalmyr adjective was simply added after the invasion. The area has an economy based on the tin mining in the mountains as well as iron deposits found in the same area. Originally, the area had sufficient food from the farming around city Jahip, but with time Palmyran peoples settled in the area, migrating from the coastlands, making it difficult for the Hu'ut to maintain it without hunger. It was almost lost when the Palmyrans revolted (See Third Palmyran-Hu'ut war), but the Hu'ut emperor Utsippiti'e I managed to make the area well-fed and organized with the improvements of fishing (And several gifts in fish from the Trilui Empire). He made reorganizations of the people, sending Palmyran people to the farms at the Had river, which actually ended up increasing the slave population even more. After 20 years, a minor Palmyran slave revolt in K'hmerl escalated in Utsippiti'e's choice in that he had to remove the people crippling his nation. Because of that, he sent five thousands of Palmyran slaves from the area to Thearak, pumping the nation with money from the traders. With that, the area economy was balanced, and history went on.

Yellow Area (very rich)
City name: Hiuttubupulosolamanos (Capital)
Region name: Hitubulossoe'ekbta
The most effective economy in Hu'ut is based on a good system of minor taxations on foreign merchants and effecient farming around the whole of Hu'ut. Most grain sold to foreigners is traded in the capital, and many a marble building has been constructed here. There are many temple buildings in the island city, showing the powerful Magio faith in Hu'ut. Hiuttubupulosolamanos was originally founded by Hu'ut tribesmen, sailing to the island and settling down in ancient times. building a geographically protected, rich city, they prospered with the spreading of irrigation, and with time a rich (rich compared to other at the time) tin mine proved the new bronze technology to be a very good burst of the Hu'ut economy. With time, a navy was constructed with the surrounding forests at the Had river, and the most advanced tribe was, at the time, the Hu'ut from the island. Beginning only with raids, the Hu'ut military started conquering the beaches and the nearby tribes, and the Hu'ut Empire was founded from here. Now, the city is one of the most beautiful in the world, with masonry and marble construction especially representing the Hu'ut Empire as a mighty nation.

Magenta Area (rich)
City names: West is Jahip, east is Ioppson.
Region name: Ioppsonat'vatur
Ioppsonat'vatur is the main marble deposit in most of the ancient world, but the Hu'ut are not getting the complete benefits for it. Trilui merchants are controlling the marble trade. However, it is still making the Hu'ut quite rich and it can be seen on their beautiful cities that they have plenty of marble.

Teal Area (average)
City name: Salgaroene
Region name: Salgaron
The ancient site of the Salgarons have declined since their prime: now, Salgaron is just an ordinary city. However, it is a crossroad for trade and the Hu'ut farming is centered around the region, and the city is therefore not left completely off.

Brown Area (somehow poor)
Region name: Hu'ut Senet
Some desert areas of Senet are belonging to the Hu'ut, and although quite poor, many people have found rich copper and tin mines here, and the coast of the region is following up with the rest of Hu'ut in the farming technology. Also, quite a few iron resources have been discovered, so the province will be much better off in a couple of decades.

Cyan Area (very rich)
City name: Hi'itkibviptikbta so
Region name: K'hmerl
K'hmerl is the richest province of Western Hu'ut and is enjoying the name of a second capital of Hu'ut. Having also the most beautiful marble buildings of all Hu'ut makes Hi'itkibviptikbta so a quite important province of the Hu'ut Empire.

Purple Area
is owned by the Farou, but is in Hu'ut refered to as the Subal Pragari region. They have a bitter hatred to the Farou for having trapped many Hu'ut people in the area - many Hu'ut merchants who lived from slave trade have lost their work in the slave free nation, so the cultural majority of the Hu'ut are not happy with their Farou leaders, even though they are libertarian. Lack of schools, public services and other social services are not allowing the poor Hu'ut majority to live by the plutocratic idealism that the Farou have - They simply can not get out of their bad social status.

@ LJ We will agree to your deal if you can show us what you are talking about in terms of borders.

You can have 'ovair Mut Epalmyria (Red), and the Hu'ut aristocracy in the area will remain there.

Conditions

I. You will not, in any way, insert a Palmyran noble in the area.
II. The Hu'ut aristocracy will control the area as they used to. You will not interfere in their politics.
III. The area is still considered a part of the Hu'ut Empire, even though it is owned by you.
IV. Hu'ut slave trade will continue as it has always been done.
V. Taxes will continue at the point they have always been taxated.
VI. I can require aid from the province if any military conflict should happen.
VII. If you interfere or reject in any of these conditions after they have been agreed upon, we will have a legal casus belli on you, and the province is to be returned to Hu'ut national status.

To: Trilui, Farou
From: Hu'ut

We agree to a NAP between the three of our nations. Though we do want to express our continued unfriendliness against you, Farou - we do not want to interfere with you in a war, but we still don't like you :p

To: Trilui
From: Hu'ut

We have seen you fighting on our side and us fighting on yours - we want to express our delight with your great nation and our happiness with you as our friends. We therefore propose a Defensive Pact - if any nation are to declare war upon us, we will honour each other in combat. Although if we are to declare war on an enemy, we will not have to help with declaration of war. The pact will remain active even if one of us are to declare war on an enemy, and will only become null and void if one of us says so.

@NK, when's the deadline?

We've decided that they can call 2 southern ones their territory. and 2 will be 'free' territory. Both our and their merchants and troops can be station on there. We need to see if they can follow up with an agreem, ent.

(The free territory is part of them but is open to both of our men)

We accept. However, we ask for free trade for our traders and protection while they in your ports. If you accept this we will show the same hospitality to yours.

So I only have contact with Thearak, Duroc, and Moti? Or do I have any contact with Hamakua and its neighbors?

Also, how are the stats coming along? It would help to have them so I can write up my orders.

Stats

Nation - Player
Economy: Strength relative to other powers
Military: Rough size of available manpower, plus naval size (if applicable)
Culture: Culture Group (see below) and influence
Description: General outline.

Acca - NPC
Culture: Ailuttorutto, Tiny
Income: 500
Military: 500 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 100 + 100 = 200)
Manpower: 1,000 men
Description: Acca is the smallest and newest of the Ailuttorutto nations. If it can keep itself away from the grasp of the main Rutto kingdom, then it could be well placed for a bright future.

Annua - NPC
Culture: Hamakua, Small
Income: 500
Military: 500 militia, 25 ships (Upkeep: 100 + 250 = 350)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: A tiny branch of the larger Hamakuan culture, Annua is an island nation with few ties to the mainland. Perhaps, given recent events, this is fortunate.

Baharr - Toltec
Culture: Arta Xorti, Strong
Income: 750
Military: 500 militia, 50 ships (Upkeep: 100 + 500 = 600)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: The main island of the Arta Xorti was named Dinyart, and the Kingdom there was called Baharr. The center of Arta Xorti culture, it was also regarded as the easiest place to gain Iehor, or Enlightenment. Then the split happened, and the farmers drove out the fishermen; the fishermen now live on a periphery of islands.

Bahra - Luckymoose
Culture: Bahra, Average
Income: 1,500
Military: 1,000 militia, 500 noble horsemen (Upkeep: 200 + 500 = 700)
Manpower: 15,000 men
Description: A people descended from the desert nomads, they finally came to settle on the fork of this river, and while most still tend the herds, some have come to regard farming as a more honorable profession. Constantly raided as a source of slaves for the nations downriver, they turned from raided to raider, attacking their neighbors and selling the captured. After the Sesh conquered their nation, they thrived in the united empire; when it broke up, they managed to snatch a large part, and look well off.

Dinyart - NPC
Culture: Arta Xorti, Strong
Income: 1,000
Military: 3,000 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 600 + 100 = 700)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: The main center of Indagahor, one of the two great religions in the world, Dinyart is an island that has seen rather more trouble than Iehor in recent years. After throwing out the fisherman families, the farmers here have been fairly isolationist, which has led to some friction with the surrounding nations.

Duroc - NPC
Culture: Duroc, Strong
Income: 2,000
Military: 4,000 militia, 350 professionals, 50 ships (Upkeep: 800 + 700 + 500 = 2,000)
Manpower: 20,000 men
Description: A powerful, if small nation on the Galas Sea, the Duroc are the main naval power in the region, though that says more about the weakness of their foes than their own strength. Their main strength is on land, where they have united, have a strong alliance with the Uggor, and have fended off repeated Thearaki attacks.

Epichirisi - Yui108
Culture: Opulensi / Arta Xorti, Good
Income: 5,000
Military: 1,000 militia, 150 ships (Upkeep: 200 + 1,500 = 1,700)
Manpower: 10,000 men
Description: The most powerful Opulensi state, the Epichirisi have a strong trading fleet and a longstanding feud with the rather more powerful Trilui. A people obsessed with acquiring wealth, they are a veritable repository for rare and priceless objects.

Farou - Lord_Iggy
Culture: Farou, Good
Income: 10,000
Military: 10,000 militia, 1,000 professionals, 20 ships (Upkeep: 2,000 + 2,000 + 200 = 4,200)
Manpower: 35,000 men
Description: The Farou are a free people; militantly so. The descendants of a slave revolt in Hu’ut, they have managed to build a thriving nation in Helsia, which remains opposed to slave-holding nations everywhere. They have already conquered several minor slave-holding states. Moreover, their inventive and industrious workforce was the first to develop iron-working in the world.

Ferman - Justo
Culture: Ferman, Small
Income: 2,000
Military: 1,000 militia, 25 ships (Upkeep: 200 + 250 = 450)
Manpower: 15,000 men
Description: The tiny nation of Ferman was on the brink of starvation before the gift of agriculture saved it from utter ruin. Now the population is expanding, and it has the best land for grape-growing in the world. A rising power, only time will tell if it can ever rival the greats in the south.

Gallas - Cuivienen
Culture: Gallatene, Good
Income: 1,000
Military: 2,000 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 400 + 100 = 500)
Manpower: 10,000 men
Description: Gallas is a very new, but rapidly rising state, with quite a lot of potential. Involved heavily in the wool trade, much of their old income source has rather fallen away as the south falls to pieces, and demand sharply declined.

Hamakua - Birdjaguar
Culture: Hamakua, Strong
Income: 3,000
Military: 5,000 militia, 100 ships (Upkeep: 1,000 + 1,000 = 2,000)
Manpower: 15,000 men
Description: The Hamakua were once one of the great three trading powers in the world, and virtually controlled the lucrative route to the Galas Sea. Then the disasters came, as the lumber industry’s collapse, massive crop failures, rebellion in the south, and barbarian invasion in the north conspired to nearly bring down the state. Now it clings to life, and while chances are good for its recovery, it will take a long time, and skilled rule.

Hanakahi - NPC
Culture: Hamakua, Small
Income: 500
Military: 4,000 militia, 100 professionals (Upkeep: 800 + 200 = 1,000)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: Conquered by their mother state the Hamakua for daring to ally with the Trilui, the Hanakahi are rebelling now, seizing their chance as the Nakalani League falls into disarray and Hamakua falls apart.

Het - NPC
Culture: Salgaron, Tiny
Income: 1,000
Military: 3,000 militia (Upkeep: 600)
Description: Het is a rump state of Serat, and the last surviving branch of the ancient Salgaron lineage. The Hafnid barbarians constantly raid the eastern borders.

Hu’ut - lord_joakim
Culture: Hu’ut, Strong
Income: 15,000
Military: 25,000 militia, 1,000 professionals, 15 ships (Upkeep: 5,000 + 2,000 + 150 = 7,150)
Manpower: 75,000
Description: A powerful nation, if not a rich one, Hu’ut went through a vicious civil war between the Magio and Dha cults, with the former and the god Hu’atbka finally triumphing. This rather mirrored their rise as a nation, where they bludgeoned their way to becoming the most powerful nation on the Had River, though incoming barbarian invasions and crop failures are starting to chip away at that lead. Trade, even within the nation, is dominated by foreigners, which has led to distrust against the people of the major trading states, while they harbor a strong sense of enmity towards the Farou.

Jania - Neverwonagame2
Culture: Arkage, Good
Income: 3,500
Military: 5,000 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 1,000 + 100 = 1,100)
Description: Once a fairly minor city, Jania became the center of a bustling civilization, full of refugees from the endless conflict between the Seshweay and the Arkage. The Empire of the Sesh fully absorbed that state, but when the Empire began to fall to pieces, Jania became one of the largest shards. Their city sacked by barbarian invaders,

Kalos - NPC
Culture: Opulensi, Small
Income: 500
Military: 500 militia, 25 ships (Upkeep: 100 + 250 = 350)
Manpower: 5,000
Description: A rather small city state, Kalos is an offshoot of the Opulensi culture. Thus, one can make the generalization that the people there crave wealth, and are frequently engaged in trade. However, this nation more than any other Opulensi state is focused more towards the Spice Isle itself.

Kedoy - NPC
Culture: Ederru, Small
Income: 150
Military: 400 militia, 2 ships (Upkeep: 80 + 20 = 100)
Manpower: 1,000 men
Description: The largest Ederru statelet, Kedoy is also the most urbanized. The other Ederru view it as something of a threat, which is justified, given its relatively strong position.

Kona - NPC
Culture: Hamakua, Small
Income: 1,000
Military: 2,000 militia, 25 ships (Upkeep: 400 + 250 = 650)
Manpower: 5,000
Description: A rather small city state on a fertile peninsula, Kona is an offshoot of the Hamakuan culture. While dwarfed by the main state, it is still independent.

Krato - Ninja Dude
Culture: Uggor, Small
Income: 5,000
Military: 5,000 militia, 300 elephants (Upkeep: 1,000 + 1,500 = 2,500)
Manpower: 30,000 men
Description: On the edge of civilization, along the Yensai River, the nation of Krato is really a union of several dozen to over a hundred families, which are not only bonds of kinship but economic units as well. The world’s main source of ivory (and, for that matter, elephants), Krato is dominated by the Council of Chiefs, and is a major trade conduit, especially for tin mined from Moti upstream. Having a very strong alliance with the Duroc Republic, they are in fact vying for the dominant position in the south.

Laoash - NPC
Culture: Zyeshu, Average
Income: 500
Military: 1,000 militia (Upkeep: 200)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: Laoash is the northernmost in a trio of Zyeshu nations, a guarded savannah valley where barbarian raids have yet to penetrate. However, it also seems somewhat boxed in.

Leheb - NPC
Culture: Arta Xorti / Opulensi, Small
Income: 500
Military: 1,000 militia, 20 ships (Upkeep: 200 + 200 = 400)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: A fairly weak offshoot of the main Arta Xorti culture, Leheb has the additional distinction of being on the Spice Isle, and with it, the trappings of Opulensi culture have begun to pervade it.

Moti - NPC
Culture: Uggor, Small
Income: 2,000
Military: 1,000 militia, 100 elephants (Upkeep: 200 + 500 = 700)

Description: A potent nation simply because of its tin trade, the Moti are otherwise a fairly normal group of Uggor, an elephant herding people with strong familial bonds.

Nahar - NPC
Culture: Arta Xorti, Tiny
Income: 250
Military: 500 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 100 + 100 = 200)
Manpower: 1,000 men
Description: A weak offshoot of the main Arta Xorti culture, Nahar has little to recommend itself; it is a tiny city-state in a dry valley.

Neruss - skizzik
Culture: Neruss, Average
Income: 1,000
Military: 1,000 militia, 20 ships (Upkeep: 200 + 200 = 400)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: A small city dependent on the salt trade, Neruss is nonetheless a state with a rising star: it has few enemies and plenty of room to expand. In its short history, it has traditionally aligned with the Sesh, now the Janians.

Ormiskos - NPC
Culture: Opulensi, Average
Income: 2,000
Military: 1,000 militia, 75 ships (Upkeep: 200 + 750 = 950)
Manpower: 5,000 men
Description: The more Opulensi of the Opulensi states, Ormiskos is even more engaged in the search for wealth than its northern neighbor. However, it also lacks the strategic position of the latter, and thus is lagging behind somewhat.

Palmyra - Slavic Souix
Culture: Palmyrian, Average
Income: 1,500
Military: 2,500 militia, 15 ships (Upkeep: 500 + 150 = 650)
Manpower: 15,000 men
Description: Palmyra is a small nation with much more powerful neighbors, who have more than once actually annexed it. Once primarily aligning with the Trilui, that alliance has soured; now it looks south for trade, and possibly allies...

Pekorova - DarthNader
Culture: Pekorovan, Average
Income: 2,000
Military: 5,000 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 1,000 + 100 = 1,100)
Manpower: 15,000 men
Description: When they saw the rest of the world engaged in endless wars, the people of the Peko River united for common protection... or so the tale goes. In fact, only five of over a dozen tribes agreed to join the confederation, and this nation has quite a lot of work to do.

Peren - NPC
Culture: Ferman / Gallatene, Tiny
Income: 500
Military: 1,000 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 200 + 100 = 300)
Manpower: 5,000 men

Culture: Liealb, Tiny
Income: 1,000
Military: 4,500 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 900 + 100 = 1,000)

Ritti - NPC
Culture: Ailuttorutto, Average
Income: 1,500
Military: 2,000 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 400 + 100 = 500)
Manpower: 10,000
Description: One of the first conquests for early Rutto warriors, the City of Gold was able to regain its independence in a period of chaos and reestablish control over the island of Ritti. Now it stands as the second most powerful Ailutturutto state, though Ritti is ever a threat.

Rutto - flyingchicken
Culture: Ailuttorutto, Good
Income: 2,000
Military: 2,000 militia, 10 ships (Upkeep: 400 + 100 = 500)
Manpower: 15,000
Description: Once merely one of the stopping points for merchants dealing in exotic wares from the north, the Lutto were recently united under a single state, a powerful military unit which, while rather weak compared with a large nation from the south, is quite potent compared to any of its nearby neighbors.

Stad Men - Mythmonster
Culture: Arta Xorti, Small
Income: 1,000
Military: 1,000 militia, 20 ships (Upkeep: 200 + 200 = 400)

Subal - NPC
