In the mid 100s AD, Chin Pho Lu, the Wandering Daoist Missionary of Shanghai, set forth on a journey to the Great City of Roma, home to the Augustus of the Western Realms. The current year is 366 AD, and Chin Yang Lu, aged 15, has set forth on a journey similar to that of his venerated ancestor. His goal: to journey along the Silk Road all the way to the fallen barbarian city of Thebes, rumored to be the greatest city in the world. He goes not just with this goal in mind, but with a goal of spreading his religion to all cities he meets, moving slowly. This pilgrimage, this journey within himself, will likely take the whole of his life. He hopes it and the record of it will foster peace and harmony in the nations of the world, and maybe tell a story about how we aren't all so very different from one another.

Chapter 1: Setting Off
Spring 366 AD
Today, I said goodbye to my family and set off west upon the Silk Road. I head for Thebes, where I hope I can someday spread the wisdom of the Dao to the worshipers of the heathen god Ra. I leave Beijing in the dead of night with little fanfare. My purpose is known, and I must not be delayed by crowds. I go slowly though, ensuring that I may stop and meet the people on my path. I hope to make the First Silk Road Garrison, on the western borders of the Middle Country, before the winter comes and the year changed.

Summer 366 AD
I have gone less far than I would like in the past season. I am only to the Silk Forest west of Beijing, just beyond the Grand Coliseum (a bit of architecture we picked up from the great civilizations of westernesse). Here I find many Imperial workers rebuilding the silk plantation that was destroyed last fall in an espionage operation. I meet the workers, who know of my purpose, and receive me warmly. They ask that I send their sons something magnificent from Thebes, that I arrange for pieces of exotic culture to go to China. I will make sure to do this.

Autumn 366 AD
At last I come to the First Silk Road Garrison. This fort on the western borders of the kingdom is known among the military families that live here as the Place Where the Sands Meet the Wall. There is good reason, as beyond the walls is desert for as far as the eye can see. There are oases on the way to the Second Garrison, but it is a long journey. In my path, it will be at least a year's time. The soldiers at the fort offer to escort me across the great desert, but I decline. My venerable ancestor made the journey alone with nothing but his religion to keep him safe, and so shall I.

Awesome, I can't wait for more!

Thumbs up so far.

Ooh, I think this will be a top notch story. Can't wait.

If it is 366AD you really want to avoid Europe, so many barbs!

great story real original too:D
it'd be sad/kinda funny to go all that way only to find a city full of barbs

i think unless astrognash comes back we can assume this is dead.

This had great potential...
