Oh, so those civilizations found on the customization wiki weren't just a fluke. Excellent news.

So... you're planning an Inca split, any reason for the UUs you chose? Because some of them seem kinda arbitrary and in all honesty there's some more interesting/iconic military units or even Incan institutions that could be represented there instead.

If I'm honest, I couldn't find much in-depth info on the Incan military, and those UUs are among the most uncertain parts of my ideas. What would you have in mind?

The icon of Japan civ is the monogram(personal signature) of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, better use the kamon(coat of arms) of the Toyotomi clan IMO.
http://sengoku-period.wikia.com/wiki/File:Toyotomi_kamon.gif

And the capital better be Osaka(which is the stronghold of the Toyotomi clan) rather than Kyoto.

I'm excited for a lot of these, since your art is really solid and the designs are stellar. I was going to say "I'm particularly excited for..." and then rattle off 3 or 4 of them, but I think I'm equally excited for them all, from both a historical perspective and a gameplay perspective! Only problem is that a lot of these look like they'll be absolute nightmares to code. I hope you yourself are good with lua, or hopefully some of the resident lua wizards take interest in these civs. Or else you might end up like me, with a lot of civs eternally "almost done" but waiting on code.

I recall from the last time that I researched into Hideyoshi that LITE+Our World uses a symbol exactly like that for modern Japan. Gatoutak being the wiki guy probably knew that and picked the monogram instead.

That's the reasoning, yeah. I suppose changing the capital to Osaka makes sense - I'll change the op.

That secret civ near Mongolia - is it Tannu Tuva (or perhaps a more generalistic Tuvan civ)?

It is a Tannu Tuva civ. I don't have much of a design atm, but it's on my to-do list.

Well, there's a bunch of interesting Incan units to go with, unfortunately most of my references are in spanish, with the rest of them being mainly in portuguese... :crazyeye: So I guess you'll have to trust my word.

As for units, the Auca Runa is nice, though the ability is weird. I presume starting with Drill 3 is so it can upgrade to Blitz real soon?

Otherwise, it's sort of an odd focus for what's basically the name of the average soldier in the Inca army.

Here's an image of the Auca Runa:

Being adept at fighting in difficult terrain is of course more than fitting, these are the Inca we're talking about after all. Some details of interest are that they were trained from childhood into a specific weapon and they were excempted from tribute or work, being provided for by the Empire's money reserves. Having the capacity to reach high promotions fast is sorta fitting for their system, I believe.

The Huaraca is... eh. Just leave the name of Inca Slinger, there's no real reason to go fancy there.

Other units that could be of interest could be Antisuyu Archers which were used as auxilliaries:

They came from the Jungle and used poison arrows to make their shots more effective.

Pacha Kamayuk AKA General. Eh, I wouldn't use this unless you're really urging for a GG replacement.

Pirka Lawas or in other words Mantlets, which were Incan siege weapons. Yes... the Inca did have siege weapons, contrary to popular knowledge. Problem would be to find a fitting model.

There's also the Pukara Purisaspa which were those types of Thatched rams you see in certain popular video games. :mischief: but problem is the same... model.

Here's the Galgas, a sort of Siege defense which would be sorta... difficult to showcase ingame.

Incan transport ship, not really relevant, but it's an option.

For Unique Buildings I'd check things like the Acllahuasi, the house of the Virgins that produced textiles whose quality and production wasn't matched until the industrial revolution.

The Yachayhuasi or the Incan Nobles School, it's interesting because aside from religious and scientific teaching it also included a heavy emphasis on military, so there's various options for replacement.

Finally the Pucaras, or Incan forts, notable mostly due to how widespread they are, there's still ruins of them as far south as here in Chile.

While I'm here I'm also sorta wondering why you chose Atahualpa, whose only claim to fame is that he just kinda was the Inca when the Spanish defeated the Empire, sure, he was a decent general, but I think there's better options out there, such as Tupac Inca Yupanqui who may or may have not reached Polynesia through exploration and was the one who explored and conquered the farther reaches of the Empire in any case, or Tupac Amaru II just because Inca with top hats are cool. :D But also because having a civilization based upon rebellion and Incan revivalism would be a nice focus, anyways, I'd say both of them could be much better options than good 'ol Atahualpa.

rip in snip

I chose Atahualpa mostly to spread out the leaders chronologically into early/mid/late, but I agree, Tupac Amaru II is a better choice, weird as it is to have a leader from long after the empire fell. (I mean, that's what I'm doing with the Pomo, so why not?)

Tupac Inca Yupanqui would make a great fourth leader for the split; I imagine he could have a "Pacific Voyage" decision that spawns a few Totora Balsas that can cross deep ocean and Trade Exotic Goods.

The Pirka Lawa, I imagine, could be a Trebuchet replacement with a movement bonus - either no setting up or moving after attacking. The Antisuyu Archer could do a passive damage thing like anything poisonous in a video game

Among the buildings, the Acllahuasi will certainly be used. I figure that when EE is installed, it could be a Cloth Mill replacement unlocked in the Renaissance, and otherwise it's a Windmill replacement. The Yachayhuasi looks very similar to the Aztec Calmecac (which I will use eventually), and the Pucaras might be more fitting as part of a UA that gives bonuses for having lots of forts.

So, the designs could go something like:
Pachacuti: Auca Runa + Ushnu, military/golden age bonuses with a bit of religion
Tupac Yupanqui: Pirka Lawa + Acllahuasi, expansion/mercantilism, decision that grants Totora Balsas
Huayna Capac: Antisuyu Archer + Terrace Farms, food/production, fort bonuses
Tupac Amaru II: Slinger + Tambo, military/culture bonuses

I'll update the op once there's a solid design.

If you're interested, TPang has an icon for it. You might need to change the colors though.

I'd made this a little while ago

Personally I think having the Slinger & Tambo for Tupac Amaru II is kinda weird, as I'd rather build the civilization around the post-spanish Inca period, basically a mix between the Taki Unkuy and Tupac Amaru's II rebellion. A heavy leaning onto religion and warfare.

I actually made such a design for said civilization here, I know I have the Auca Runa there which makes me look like an hypocrite, but if I were to do it now, bearing this "Inca Split" in mind, I'd rather give them a gun unit like this:

Spoiler :

The Arriero is very fitting too, as they were the main supporters of Tupac Amaru II, him being an Arriero himself and such. Some sort of religious unit would also make loads of sense of course.

Admittedly, I'm just spitballing, these are your civilizations after all and you may have a different idea, but this is how I'd approach the civilizations personally.

Every source I can find on Tupac Amaru II's rebellion says that slings were the among the most common weapons used, so I think I'll leave it there. The Arriero looks like a good option though - not sure if it should be an infantry unit with worker abilities or a worker with infantry abilities.

So the Tambo could go to Tupac Yupanqui, and the Acllahuasi would go to Pachacuti in place of the Ushnu.

I've updated the OP with new Inca designs:

..and on top of that, I've got a few possible color schemes for Tupac Yupanqui - I'm currently undecided, and I could use some feedback.

(hope everyone had a great christmas, by the way)

If you need any help with city names I'll be happy to supply you with them. I know it sounds very little, it takes 1 less thing that you need to work on and it I enjo doing it.:D

You should probably come up with a new icon to replace this one:

It's nice and all, but it looks far too complicated, and will probably look awful in-game (specially on the city tooltip).
