If you do not finish a wonder....

If you do not finish a wonder, whether it be by switching production intentionally or another CIV builds it first, do you lose all the production accumulated or get a gold amount in compensation ?

You get gold in compensation when another civ builds it, whether you were still in the process of building it or had switched to another project.
