This is my first full game on Emperor level and for the first attempt I managed to play it really nicely, surviving early double DOW from Dido and Boudicca and still staying a demographic leader in everything but army size and approval with England.
I was playing Terra map and ended up conquering area which in the real world corresponds to Russia. So to the south I have Celts separated from me by mountains and southwest there is India with a large army well defended cities and Persian gulf making swift attacks impossible.
Starting at about year 1850 my diplomatic relations turned really ugly, as everyone was guarded or worse. I neglected my army foolishy, continuing to build culture and research. So what happened, since about 1900 I have had DOW from at least 3 civs simultaneously with no one accepting peace negotiations. I managed to counter an attack of an army about 3 times my size if not 4 with obsolete units until a reinforcement of bazookas and paratroopers came in (from my side). I have also used about 10 nukes in an attempt to weaken my opposition, nearly taking India's capital (reducing it in size from 36 to about 4). Unfortunately, as I was doing that I got attacked from the opposite side of the map and in 15 turns Celts took Hanoi (which I previously conquered as a retaliation for taking a city I lost early in a game).
After all these shenanigans I ended up in a neverending World War with 6 cities remaining, irreversible critical unhappiness, 0 gold, -140 gpt, 0 trade routes. Other civs already started building spaceship, and top score contenders are about 150 to 200 points ahead of me. On the positive side (if there is any) I have the largest army perma-building tanks, nukes, helicopters. Currently year 2020.
Any feasible way of saving the game at this point or just launch an attack on all my enemies and fight till the last soldier?
P.S. forgot to mention that 3 of my cities got nuked in the process, I have 3 workers remaining and the entire Asian part of the map is a nuclear wasteland at this point.
But this is the most fun I had playing civ 5 since starting..
