Whats a good finish date for a huge map?

Builder types are not viewed very favorably on the forum, though. That type of win is viewed as being extremely boring.

I suspect it is has a lot to do with the kinds of games we see posted playing that style. You do not see players posting how they played peaceful builder and won on Deity and Sid.

What you see is players posting how they are running into trouble playing a form similar to the "builder" on Regent and Monarch and some Emperor.

To play builder on Regent and win is boring, but easily done. Doing it above emperor is not so easy, but would bore me. It is a style you learn when you first start. If you are playing years later and using the same style, I would expect that to bore most anyone.

I enjoy builder-type games. My favorite win condition is the 20K, single city game - I think they are a massive challenge, especially on a higher level (defined as the highest level you are comfortable with), because they way they are set up, you basically take your best city out of the normal production to build wonders. Building wonders obviously gives you serious bonuses, but still...

It is hard to stay friendly with nations, once you are bigger than they are, unless it is a lower level where you can bribe them all the time with techs.

I doubt this, really for a pangea map. For a continents map it might work out as more tricky... although I've only played one. For an archipelago map maybe not as much so, but dealing with a war defensively there works out as much easier in general. Sign RoPs with everyone.

For information on how to win builder style on Deity or Sid, I'd recommend to check Drakan's article here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=122419 Why hasn't that gone into the War Academy? I really don't get that at all. I have something of a write-up for a demi-god builder game (one war for a GA) in the COTM 48 final spoiler thread here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=274997. Here's an empire-level builder semi-succession game here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=277691. We couldn't attack outside our cultural borders in that one. I've also left some notes... alright maybe more like bragging about... my Deity Iroquois builder game around here, such as the link here http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=6928291#post6928291

I guess I'll do this on Deity again and post a sort of play-by-play in the "story" forum... or at least until some unforseen disaster strikes. Haha... just paranoia there. Now I'll have to pick my tribe. I'm thinking Maya right now.
