[HELP] How to draw icons like the JanBoruta's icons

Inspired by Klisz's Württemberg civilization icon, I want to make a new civilization mod of my homeland Württemberg.

I don't worry about the coding parts but I need leader icon and UU/UB icons, which I don't know how to draw them. I know there is some icon tutorials in the forum, but these tutorials only give you a template and ask you to find a source image on internet and then cut it into the icon, which would not satisfied me.

What I want is drawing some icons look like the JanBoruta ones by myself. Is there any tutorial about how to draw JanBoruta-style icons?

Jan's art is just natural talent. There's not really a tutorial for this. Though I suppose the tools help - one of those pen to PC things.
