Which of them do you prefer and why?
Personally, my vote goes to Autocracy because I'm a warmonger.

Depends completely on the situation, civ and the victory condition I'm going for.

What condintion you generally lean towards. I inevitably kill everyone!

I have finished maybe 15 to 20 games, still don't have achievement for Autocracy tree, although hopefully in the current game I am playing, assuming the SP cost for the last couple isn't too insanely high. (it might be, playing ICS (celtic) in hopes of picking up Longest. Name. Ever. achievement, along with about 5 others)

I typically choose order because of the immediate happiness bonus. At that point in the game, I've usually built a large empire through conquest and need the happiness. The second policy choice within order gives a 17% science increase to cities with factories. This is another big boost late in the game.

I've taken freedom a few times especially if I've gotten the Leaning Tower and Statue of Liberty.

It really depends on the game, and what I'm trying to do...

However, I voted Autocracy, as I go that way more often than the others.

my vote goes to order, have top notch production is key to my victories.

Order works well with Domination - the Opener + Liberty's Meritocracy will give you big boosts for happiness when you start taking cities. Then there's Planned Economy, which will double your bpt if you have like 2-4 factories and allow you to hit key warmongering techs (Bombers/nukes/Stealth) faster.

Autocracy is THE choice for total war, but sometimes to catch up, one has to get Order...

I normally go Order, which normally is best in heavy war or science situations, just because you'll likely end up with a good few cities either way.

Autocracy is nice for late warmongers that might still be small when they reach industrial. It's great for civs that want to stay small until late or really shine late in war. It's also my diplomatic victory SP tree of choice, since it seems warmongers generally eat up more peaceful civs early, and it can be a simple matter of taking this to get their vote since they likely hate everyone else.

I probably take Freedom the least. It's nice for culture, but I've honestly enver found it more attractive than the two other choices for any other VC.

Order : Free happiness per city and 25% science bonus with factories right for first 2 policies :goodjob:

I like autocracy because the -33% miitary unit maintainence is usually worth around 50-100 GPT by the time it's available.

I used to go Freedom in almost every game. I like to run a specialist economy and have several great people tile improvements which double their effectiveness.

Lately I have been playing Order. The instant happiness boost is great, and getting a science boost from factories is also very nice. If the game goes long enough, the finisher is the icing on the cake.

Both are good for different purposes. I voted Order in the poll just because that is what I have been playing with recently.

Order because of the happiness and production.

I use to pick autocracy but then I realized that it is really not that useful unless you have a small empire and lack important resources.

There is really no need for the 2X resources bonus once you have a large empire with lots of stuff in it. The happiness bonus from order is much more valuable in the long run.

IRL I would probably govern through a Cartel system (A hybrid of Bismarckian principles and economic fragmentation enforced with violence as we see with the Drug Cartels)

And in game? I don't really care about any of them too much :p. I may open a tree but I prefer finishing earlier trees (I Rarely go culture anymore nowadays).

If I had to choose one - it would probably be autocracy if I wanted to maintain higher gold or if I have spare faith for a GE then I will pick order.

I was curious to see if anyone else feels mostly indifferent to the 3 final policy tree? I know I do mostly :p

I just had this NQ game where GGs were incredibly useful in breaking through this ridiculous mountain fortress of Japan. Basically, there were only two entrances to Japan proper, and they were straight-lined narrow chokepoints... the answer to this was of course citadels! Even annexed a Japanese puppet later on (the only religious one in the area) to rushbuy another GG to do artillery push into Kyoto.

With a total war scenario like this, Autocracy would be immensely more useful than Order, especially when it comes to getting citadels into place.

Depends on goals and hoe I want to play...

I usually play "tall" (four or five settled cities) with wide puppets, and I like to keep as many of the puppeted cities as possible. So the order opener is often critical to get happiness under control at that point in the game.

However, if I'm going for a science victory and want one more round of RA's, I may wait and pick whichever policy most of my trading parties select (since otherwise they get mad and won't renew their DoF).

Or, if I have settled a lot of GPs (perhaps with a cultural victory in mind), then I pick Freedom.

So, it's situational (as they say, all too often). But I still voted order, since that's my most common policy path.

Pretty much this. I have yet to earn the achievement for completing the Autocracy tree because there has not been a single game yet where Autocracy would serve me better than Order. If I play militaristic that usually means I'm wide already when I reach Industrial, and the happiness, production, science and gold bonus from Order is just too good to turn down - and will generally outshine the benefits from Autocracy.

Lets say you have 4 Uranium, that's 2 missiles or 4 bombs, with Fascism it is 4 missiles or 8 bombs. Also, if you had 7 uranium, you can build 7 modern armours or with Fascism, 14 modern armours!
Big difference, especially in multiplayer!
